Re: What do you think, Cheyenne Super clone?

I have built trucks like this. Built them as my vision of how I would have liked to have ordered one. Sometimes I've stuck with how the factory did it and other times I did what I wished they did, like custom made houndstooth saddle bucket seat covers. But I always tell up front it's my build my way. I point out what I did. I call my short bed project a '67 GMC because that's how it will appear. You'd be able to pick that one apart all day long, built from spare parts. It will be no secret it is my own creation.

I see trucks posted for sale that we pick on. We're not about bashing trucks here, but some healthy criticism is helpful to our members who are learning. It's a seller giving dishonest description that I jump on. It could be intentional or could be ignorance. If it's ignorance, there is the internet with all kinds of information. Even specific forums for these trucks to find information easily. Hey! I'm on one right now!!

Re: What do you think, Cheyenne Super clone?

It's the buyers responsibility to know what they're buying. If they don't know what makes it a chey super, then they either need to learn, or move on.

This happens all too often. Guys are writing dissertations to the seller about what his vehicle is and isn't. Just politely inform and move on. Browbeating and suggesting the listing company alter the ad is some Karen type stuff.

This company lists many vehicles. And we to believe they have experts of every vehicle make and model scrutinizing every ad listing so the buyer can sleep better at night?

No. That's why it's the buyers responsibility to do his/her own research. Moreover on a 30k+ purchase.

Pretty sure all big blocks came with factory dual exhaust, in that era.

Never had or knew anyone with factory big block. All mouse motors or 6 bangers for me. Learn something new everyday.

Re: What do you think, Cheyenne Super clone?

Spotted some funkiness with the Rosette Rivets on the VIN Plate. Not quite flat enough?
Also why are the shocks inverted?
Clearly the pristine SPID matches the build. Vintage SPIDs have coffee stains, ketchup smears, and ballpoint markings. And typos are almost a style-point. Every option is clearly defined on this one.
Every time I see a five digit Odometer, I add a 1 or 2 as a sixth digit. 99,999 miles comes and goes so often when you're seeing the USA in your Chevrolet.
Would have been a $3,000 truck forty five years ago. Add a zero for inflation.

FWIW, I never knew that, either, until we inherited this truck and someone posted some dealer order forms that talked about it. I never would have known, either. This place is a gold mine of information about these trucks. Our truck is a CST, but did not have the stainless trim on the windshield gasket. I've learned that the CST option had stainless trim on the windshield and back glass, and that the option morphed over the '69 model year. My wife's parents bought the truck in '73, but I'd have to look in old picture albums (which may not exist) to see if it had that, back then. The back glass was removed when they had the first camper shell install, and a pass-through was installed. I never saw the back glass, of course, and the tailgate was long gone. I'd swear that I saw that tailgate in the rafters of their garage, but it was not there when we cleaned out the place to put it up for rent. It wouldn't surprise me at all if my FiL horse-traded it to someone for something he wanted. He was a great guy, most everybody liked him. Rubbed off on his daughter, I guess. She can be a pain sometimes, but I'm sure that I'm the same, that way. The heat must have gotten to me, here I am, babbling. Done.

Re: What do you think, Cheyenne Super clone?

The only factory dual exhaust came with the big block. All big blocks got dual exhaust and no small blocks did. Not even with Corvette engine option

This is exactly how these trucks got to be so expensive. The price is driven by a market that doesn't know these trucks. They only know they want these trucks and they have the money. It's ok for people who make good money to drive trucks these days. It's the buy-ins that drive the price of a hobby up

I doubt if the buyer read the comments. I seriously doubt he even knows of the existance of this website. If he were one of us, he would have found a truck for a lot less.

I don't know about all that would have been a much better answer.

I have a high roller BIL that could care less about SPID's and build sheets and option packages. He just buys what he likes and when he gets ready to dump it, it's gone.
