Nice, how did you narrow the track width? I kinda see how you did the uppers but what about the lowers?

Re: Project '86

There are pictures in this thread somewhere, I think, but I modifed the stock cross member to move the mounting point for the lower arms up 3" and in 1-1/8" per side.

Re: Project '86

First, I have to say you are doing on helluva job on this truck !

It's more like a work of art....

I have a question about your suicide hinge install, I tried this mod on my parts cab and had the same door sag when opened.

Do you have or can you take pics of how you reinforced the cab to eliminate the flex ?

Also, Did you box in the hinge assemblies to keep water from entering the cab corners ?

Thanks

Re: Project '86

I welded another piece of angle between the hinge pockets and butted up against the cab. Then on the cab I drilled some holes so that I could plug weld it on the front side.

That was enough to stiffen up the cab. The door has a lot of bracing added to the rear of it to stiffen it up.

Today after work I had just enough time to cut the frame for my rack notches. More to come tomorrow...

Re: Project '86

It should. I may have to raise it just a bit to give the oil pan more ground clearance. I think I am going to have to get the motor in before I mount my rack so I don't run into any problems.

dv8customs,

I REALLY appreciate the added info for the hinges, I will defiantly add more bracing like you did and see if I can get it worked out...

Pretty much the same as with it laid out. The camber barely changes through the travel.

Thanks, Bob was a great man of God and made an impact on a lot of people including me. Please continue to pray for strength for the Field's family.

Shay posted this on a couple sites so I will put it here as well.....

Not sure how many of you guys know everybody from WhyWear, but we lost one of our members Wednesday night. Bob (the guy w/ long dreadlocks) missed a curve on his motorcycle while driving at night. He left behind a 25 year old wife and 3 kids. It's a sad day for us, but we're trying to see the positive and keep our heads up. I know personally how much Bob loved our slogan "Why Be Normal". He loved pushing the envelope against the "churchs" vision of how a christian should look w/ his dreads, tattoos of scriptures, and biker clothes. Bob (like the rest of us at WhyWear) wanted to show you guys/gals that following Christ doesn't mean you have to wear a suit/tie and follow some cookie cutter image. You don't have to clean up your act, your style, your anything...Just come as you are. HE will change you and your ways. I know first hand...just ask me. Let's face it, death is inevitable in this world. We're all going to die and go spend eternity in one of two places. I know where Bob is today and I know he wants every crazy minitrucker to be there with him someday. I loved Bob and I want you guys to know how much he loved ya'll and our scene.
