Hard to believe but a lot of WWI planes had that type. The engine pictured resembles an airplane motor,so I thought I'd add this info.

Re: Pics Thread:A Motor A Day
Here is another Radial, P&W R2800. 2000 hp at 2400 RPM
They built a boosted version of this that produced 3600 hp. It was run on a dyno for 250 hrs straight on 100 oct Avgas with no failure.

Re: Pics Thread:A Motor A Day
We live out in the country under a flight path. About twice a month there is a DC-3 that comes lumbering through. I know what it is the instant I hear it, nothing like a BIG Recip.

Re: Pics Thread:A Motor A Day
We`re digging up the obscure. But,I`m disappointed that we can`t fill a page a day with all the pictures and types of motors out there.I know I could post a picture a day at least through the end of the year...and I plan to.So,get yours up here. This thread is going to be around awhile.Even if it`s just me bringing it back daily with my one picture.I have yet to begin!
I`m just workin`my way down. There`s some real nice stuff farther down in my Photobucket. And,those are just ones I`ve shown in other threads.I have a "Motors" folder in "My Pictures". Now,which one next?
