James,

Are you going to weld the fenders onto the bedside? Meaning a bead along the entire cut line? Am trying to decide if want to do that, or cut them leaving tabs that I can bend 90 degrees and bolt them onto studs welded to the fleetside. The latter would make them removeable in case one got bent or whatever, but would be a little more difficult to achieve. I see a lot of duallys with cracked fiberglass fenders!!

I can't wait to see your truck completed. I finally got the new engine in Car Hauler, so maybe I can get back to work on mine. I posted some info about the new engine on the "Where are the 1 tons?" thread. I went back with a 383 stroker, and it is one sweet running engine. I will post pics as soon as I get some of it.

Glad to hear that you are up and running again with the car hauler. I believe that we are welding the fenders completly onto the bed and fill the gap in completly for a seamless look. My only concern is the same as yours, what if something happens and I smack it up. Well I am hoping that never happens, but if it does I will probably just replace the whole bed. The truck by the way should be fired up today, the wiring harness is all installed now.

It actually runs!!

We got her fired up on Friday and took it outside for its first taste of fresh air and sunlight in the past 3 years. Made it into second gear and then drove her into the paint shop for the final sand and spray possbily tomorrow. I will post pics when I download them at the office.

There are only two coats of clear, getting scuffed today for a couple more. But it looks fine just the way it is so that plan might be canned.

I tried to get some detailed pics last night but the rotisserie is turned and they are working on the other side, plus I was kinda ticked off. Apparently the donor box has alot of fill in it where we need to weld the drivers side fender on and it is too late to source another box since the passenger side fender is welded on now. About the welder 97% of the welding work on this truck he has done, I think that I will need to buy my dad a new mig welder for Father's day when this rig is done.

The guys have been having fun with that. Last week is was "Do not touch" and "Ne touches pas" there attempt at french. This week is started off about someone's parent's not being married when he was conceived and got worse from there. Now it simply says "Do not warp" which I am glad off.

Sometimes the format is day/month/year. Yesterday was the 11th of May.

That truck is looking awesome.
