Re: Spy Ballon

Sooo...

Biden "un named official" says it happened under Trump too.

Several Trump officials (by name) state that never occurred.

Biden admin then says well it happened, we just didn't know about it until now.

I guess they don't monitor what flies over until they need an excuse to fight some bad PR?

You can't make this up people...

Re: Spy Ballon

FWIW, I agree it should have been shot down as soon as it hit our air space and this makes us look bad. It's ridiculous that millions of Americans spend a few days talking about it and the media is a buzz, yet nobody does anything about it. I'm just being objective about the rest since I know no more than the rest of you. I question news reporting agencies as much as I do the government no matter who is president.

Re: Spy Ballon

It's taken me some time to find these articles. But they seem to be appropriate at this time. Amazing to me that these men would go up in these primitive craft to set records that have now days no one is even aware of.

I guess there will be one less “red” ballon at the Albuquerque Balloon Festival/Fiesta this year.

Why did they shoot the equipment instead of the balloon?

Re: Spy Ballon

On the news they said preliminary examination showed the "Balloon " had propellers and electric motors and could be steered slowed and sped up. So its technically a dirigible and if the report is accurate the whole weather balloon that went off course story is a complete joke .

Now come on Larry you know better than to ask questions like that. I’m sure our Govt just didn’t want us to know that the Chinese have better weather predicting equipment than we do.

The equipment would be the only thing that would give the missile a radar signature to lock onto

Re: Spy Ballon

The Sidewinder is a heat seeker the news reports....assuming that is correct I would have used guns to pop that effer and brought it down slow to preserve the "package" for study.
Now we are left with little bits spread out over 7 plus miles instead of having most of it intact.

Re: Spy Ballon

The missile used to take down the PRC balloon made use of a proximity fuse, which are designed to explode at a predetermined distance from a target when it’s “close enough” to cause damage by the fragmentation.

Wonder why Canada chose inaction when this traversed their nation?

Guns on modern fighters use radar to lock on target. Not like the old days where you pointed the plane to shoot down the enemy

And they captured the pilot

Re: Spy Ballon

That is funny!!

I'm just wondering why they blew the heck out of the recon stuff underneath?

I would think having it more intact would be best to see the chicoms tech.

The Biden administration just released information that the balloon was heading to this location.

Re: Spy Ballon

My employer sent me to China for three weeks and we ate at a hot pot restaurant. It tasted like that.

The the meal was followed up by desert, which was red bean shaved ice. Uhh......no thanks.
