Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Only thing I've had time to do lately is think about what parts to order next. It's a much larger list on paper, lol.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

I know it's another update without pictures but you will be happy to hear that I've got most of my parts on order to get it running, including borla exhaust as a bonus.

So hopefully next week progress pictures will start again.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Figured I would blow the dust off this thread. Pictures are uploading now. I have a utility full of new parts waiting for truck to attach too. Paint will be flying this week and my goal is to have a finished rolling chasis and cab back on by the end of next week since my vacation starts in 4 days!!!

Thanks guys. Awesome to see I joined the 5 star club. Hope my build is inspiration for the next guy. I stayed up late last night rebuilding and cleaning my 12 bolt rearend along with finishing the rear disk brakes. Thanks again Captainfab for the caliper brackets, saved me a ton of time.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Made an appointment to get my driveshaft tube replaced and rear slip shaft installed. Hopefully that doesn't drain my wallet to bad. Also got a lead on a new to me bench seat foam for when my new seat cover arrives. Going to pick up a new frontend as well to change the look a little to my liking.

I'm planning to get all my brake and fuel lines next week as well. I'm going to try my hardest to get the firewall shaved next week along with flush mounting my new corvette booaster and master cylinder. This is really just the tip of the iceberg. Hopefully it all flys together smoothly so I can get you guys the pictures you crave. Wish me luck this ****s going to get crazy.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Funny story. Apparently at some point last night in my sleep I ordered some porterbuilt hood hinges. I have little to no recall of my actions but my confirmation emails state otherwise, lol. Well, cheers to the new parts and I think I'll be leaving my phone in the other room tonight.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

The chasis is completely cleaned and degreased, what a chore! Tomorrow paint will be flying. I will probably shoot the motor at the same time but due to space constraints I will have to wait until the frame is out of the garage before I can paint everything else. Today's cold morning allowed me to spend a few extra hours getting all the hard to get spaces. Tomorrows forecast is sunny and warm so I'm looking forward to some cold beers while paint is drying.

Re: 71 C10 project "Double Tap"

Thanks guys. Im painting all the contrasting parts now in a matte finish. Should look pretty cool when it goes together. You guys think a motor and tranny should be the same color?
