I may be ready by July .. Northwest Motorfest is a great show Well if the truck is not ready the Chevelle is always ready for a show.
I bought a kit from CPP for a deal.. It was a E-bay auction for the package of 6 lug rotors and GM calipers with stock GM 71-72 spindles. It was a whole bunch less than catalog price..
Now I know some folks have an issue with them, But I decided that i would take a chance. Have bouht several thing with no problems.
Ebay is always supposed to back up the buyer if an issue occurs..

Hows that compressor running ?? Mine would not turn over and smokes the belts in the cold.. I drained the oil and put in 5W30 motor oil just to get things working in the cold!!
HOW LONG TILL SPRING???

you might want to warm that storagetank up a little when its that cold , things start to freese once you using the air , its enough to put frostbite on youre tools and hands
it works like a freezer when you compress you release the warmth stored in the gas when you expand the gasses it pulls heat out of its suroundings , theres even been an american submarine once that sunk and imploded during it maiden voyage because of this , the pipes moving the air frose up and they couldnt blow out the balasttanks to surface

My compressor is in a heated garage. I keep it about 45 all the time. No problems so far. Your addicted to ebay.

Re: Daverods project 66

The (a) proportioning valve must be installed since there is no valve originally.
In fact, disks require replacement and or re-routing of most of your brake lines.
The early A arms will take the later disk spindals...
In fact, the A arms are the same on half tons from 63 and at least till 73 and I have seen 79 arms bolt right in place of the 63....
NAPA shows the A arm shafts having the same stock number from 63 thru 81.
Doing a brake conversion is 10 times more easy with the availability of a donor truck to pull all the parts from and 10 times cheaper too..

Re: Daverods project 66

the donor truck would have all the brakelines and brackets needed too
if you have the space to store it the time to rip them apart and the knowledge of what is worth money theres money to be made out of donortrucks

Re: Daverods project 66

You can use your stock arms and get disc brakes. You will have to replace the ball joints and get either 71-72, or 73-87 spindles. Make sure that the spindle shaft is 1.25" not the 1". Then you will have to use 4x4 rotors, which is 6 lug. Make sure that you replace the drag link as well to the same year that you use.

It's better to use 73-87 stuff since the parts are cheaper.

Re: Daverods project 66

The kit is starting to sound better. I did use a parts truck to do my 66 disks. Had to buy new calipers and get the rotors turned also new bearings, seals and hoses. Paid 300 for the truck plus the time to take it all apart and clean it. Still thinking about it.

Re: Daverods project 66

I would look at ECE and not buy from CPP, I haven't had specific issue with CPP but many on the board has, I saw a recent issue in the review area about them.

Re: Daverods project 66

Sprayed a bunch of bedliner in my doors and panels. Covered the panels with pea-ln-seal. Made them weight a bunch more should work good. Got my lower ball joint pressed in. Now gotta put it all back together. Ordered all new shocks and relocating hardware from cpp. Delux shock kit. Almost on the road again. Had to order a pressure swich for the accuair stuff. Can't believe it does'nt come with the kit.
