That glovebox door is sweet Bob!

Looking good....you and Alex are making me feel bad...I have to work on the house and landscaping...I'd rather be working on my trucks!

Re: Glock's official "Project 68" build thread

Thanks Larry! Just be sure the wife is happy, then you have some ammo when it comes down to shop time!!

I was going back through some old pics of this truck, and for fun I thought I would post up some pics of what it first looked like when I first bought it, and a couple of the "cleaning up" process. Basically, I replaced the engine with a new 350 crate motor, changed out all the exterior chrome as EVERYTHING had been painted over, lowered it, front disc brakes, wheels and tires, and a new exhaust.

Re: Glock's official "Project 68" build thread

Almost forgot..... I have a new HVAC control coming from Hot Rod Air. This is a new style for them, and I think it will flow much better with the new gauge cluster then the oval one did. I wanted to get this, along with the two center vents and stereo cut out before painting the cab.

Ah...a man after my own heart...You love a TON of pearl in orange and blue hues. Sometimes a lot of pearl in the paint tends to mottle a bit more so application is more difficult then solid colors but I LOVE the end result...

The blue I am using for my 1971 SWB is actually a Honda S2000 Bermuda Blue Pearl that I took all of the yellow out and basically trippled the amount of pearl...

Re: Glock's official "Project 68" build thread

Hey Chris, haven't seen you on in a while! I have always been a die hard blue fan, but lately it seems everyone is painting theirs blue. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but I have done just enough subtle mods to this one that I am afraid it won't stand out around all the other blue trucks.

So I though I would go another route. I never ever thought I would like orange, but it was Mike Nutt's truck that changed my mind. So I set out to find an orange that agreed with me. I narrowed it down to a few, and this one won. I always seem to gravitate to the ones that are a little different when I go to shows or cruise nights, ones that jump out at me. So this one should "hopefully" have the same effect!

Re: Glock's official "Project 68" build thread

I'm stoked Alex, really stoked!!!!!!

I've already thought up a little design to (maybe)have painted on one lower corner of the tailgate.......

An orange, with the top blown out, and a nuclear mushroom cloud rising up out of it. ATOMIC ORANGE!

Re: Glock's official "Project 68" build thread

Thats something I have been arguing with myself about for awhile now (don't ask, I can get into pretty heated arguments with myself some times! )

Anywho, I have two round vents that I originally was going to use on the ends of the dash, but I won one of the arguments and decided to use the OEM round vents instead. I had already bought the smaller round ball vents but forgot I had them until a couple of days ago.

I was also going to use the oval control panel from Vintage Air, but recently got some information in the mail from Hot Rod Air. I called to see about one of their billet oval panels and found out they had a new one; three knobs that are inline, and has ball milled grooves. They emailed me a picture of it yesterday morning (the one posted above), and I immediately called to order one. It is such a great match to the gauge bezel.

So, here is a quick and dirty Power Point drawing of how the center of the dash will look.

For now, I might get into another argument with myself.......
