Inline 6 Valve Cover Compatability

Does anyone know if I can swap a double hump style valve cover from a Chevy 250 with the older style without the double humps? I read that the valve covers that came with the integrated head (double hump) don't swap with the older style head valve covers.

I'm just trying to clean up the look in the engine engine bay, and hate the extra emissions stuff that goes with the double hump head. Will an older style valve cover fit on my integrated head motor?

Bolt patterns are different.
Surprise is that there are still integral heads out there, given their fondness for cracking and vacuum leaking causing the motor to go lean.

Re: Inline 6 Valve Cover Compatability

I was worried that was the case, thank you for your responses!

I wouldn't be using the integrated head, however I have a brand new one laying around so I will be keeping it. If this one cracks then I will make the change. Thanks again!

Re: Inline 6 Valve Cover Compatability

I've never heard of the Inline 6cyl head as being a "Double Hump" head??
That name was used for the first year in 1961 on the high performance head, then used into 1970+ or - a few years. The different variances over those few year's that Chevrolet used them on the Small Block Chevy 283-302-327-350 HP V8 engines, the 461-462 and a few more were called Camel Hump or Double Hump heads.

The Valve Covers and Head's for Chevrolet 1963-1974 230-250-292's Inline 6cyl engines are interchangeable.
Hope this helps y'all...
