I showed up late so I rode my motorcycle for easy parking. I usually only go there 3-4 times a year unfortunately.

Re: "Sweet Pea" 1975 Cheyenne 20

SMS supplied the material for my 75 Scottsdale. My upholstery guy said the OEM stuff was very high quality but it had some creases that were hard to work out. GM called it Knit Vinyl avocado, gold and pearl white. I get lots of compliments on it.

Wow, that’s very nice! And it’s a GMC seat, I like those seats. They are pretty rare. GMC added a little bling to their seats, the little chrome hinge parts.

Wow that looks awesome. SMS has some amazing stuff. Do you recall how much material you purchased to make the inserts?

Copy, yeah same here... If you get the chance, come up to Penngrove on the 4th sunday of the month, we do our cars and coffee up there at the market. Not nearly as big as the Marin one, but still fun! And give a shout next time you see me cruising by!

Great stuff, man. I’m taking a lot of inspiration from Sweet Pea as I plan out my own stock-plus build for the ‘78 Suburban. Really. Well done!

Thanks!! I appreciate that! I have been following your new 'Burb as well, I thought I had a solution to your wheel conundrum, but unfortunately Wheel Vintiques only makes the 16's in 8 lug...

Okay, well I guess it's all dependent on what's more important: hub caps or tires that don't go flat all the time

I should have gone that route. I tried and failed to make GMT 16" 6 hole wheels fit by cutting out the center hole bigger. My neighbor did such a nice job with his plasma torch. Too bad I didn't have him do just one and check it before doing all five I ended up getting disgusted and buying 4 used 15x8 steel rallies just to get going again since one of the factory alloy wheels had busted and I didn't trust the other three.

The price of the new WV 6 hole 16's per wheel isn't too much more than I spent on two sets of used wheels, but it would have been about $575 for five wheels plus shipping - what $200 or $300 to Montana ??? Maybe someday I will even do that if I decide to keep and fix up the old Suburban.

Short Haul on your truck what is your bed liner made of "spray in" or a commercial product like Line X?

Do you like it?
It was done by the original owner just prior to sale. It’s heavy duty and thick, I’m guessing commercial like Line-X but there’s no logo or tag on it. PO didn’t say... I really do like it, but I always wondered if the bed had a rough spot or something he was covering up?

Thank you! I used Krylon Farm & Implement rattle can, color is “old equipment yellow”

It’s a pretty close match.

Paint. I used some thin line tape and masked it off in place.

Re: "Sweet Pea" 1975 Cheyenne 20

Well, its taken a few days to post about it, but I had the time of my LIFE at C10 Intervention last weekend!

We rolled out from Sonoma with a pretty big crew, by the time we hit Lodi we had at least 30 trucks if not more.

Untitled by awesome_adawson, on Flickr

Untitled by awesome_adawson, on Flickr

Untitled by awesome_adawson, on Flickr

Driving out there in a big crew was awesome, nothing but kickass trucks in the rearview and out in front. Once in to Auburn we got checked into our hotel then headed right out to the cruise.

Awesome 50 mile cruise through hwy 49 gold country and along the American river.

That ended up at Crooked Lane brewing, where we tossed back a few cold ones and crushed some tacos. Highlight of that event was getting to meet a bunch of heavy hitters in the C10 industry. The guys from Provost Motorsports are such a rad group of guys, building amazing rides while still managing to be hella cool and completely laid back. Ronnie Wetch pulled up in Orange Slice, which is a stunner! And he was super cool to hang out with too! Met BoostedBossLady, talked superchargers and squarebodies... So stoked!

After all that, we ended up at the Red Lion Inn, where it was an all out parking lot block party! All the big names in trucks were there, slangin tacos and bumping killer tunes late into the night... And the show hadn't even begun!

Sunday morning came awfully early, but we were greeted with stellar weather, and an acre of trucks shined up and ready to go!

Once the gates opened up we all piled in and got parked. So many unreal trucks, blazers, and burbans!

After walking the rows upon rows of killer rides, checking out the vendors and stopping by the Big Fish Cantina, I returned to Sweet Pea to find a note on my windshield.

Later on it was awards time, and sure enough my number was called! I picked up the hardware for Best in Show, 1973-87 Trucks! I still cannot believe I was chosen! There were so many kick ass trucks there.
