Re: 1971-1972 New Battery Cables

Happy anniversary Roger! Your first post on these cables was 6 years ago today. Great part for any restoration or daily driver. Can you order them for another application, or gets poss. Cable in all Red? Spring ring type. Did see your 67-70 post as well.

Re: 1971-1972 New Battery Cables

I'll be ordering a set at some point in time. I have a question, however. To where does the secondary wire off the positive cable attach? Is this a ground wire? And is it necessary?

I've seen many positive cables (most negative cables have it) that don't have this secondary wire, so kind of curious.

The positive cable secondary wire goes to the junction block on the fender. It supplies the truck with power.

The negative cable secondary wire goes to the the fender and is for a ground.

Re: 1971-1972 New Battery Cables

The small negative cable grounds the core support. It uses the same bolt on the core support as the headlight ground. The fender has its own ground that goes from the inner fender to the frame.

Re: 1971-1972 New Battery Cables

Payment sent, thanks again Roger. My truck will have 2 of the otherwise unobtainable specialty items that you supply when it is completed (bucket seat brackets and now the old-style battery cables).
