Blazers with in dash speaker

Why do some Blazers have speaker in the dash like the trucks and others have under dash speakers?
Different plants?
I have a 72 K5 with one in the dash and a 72K5 CST with under dash speaker

Re: Blazers with in dash speaker

All single wall Flint assembled K5s used the pickup style speaker inside the dash save for a handful during transition away from double wall top. All double wall K5s had a speaker mounted below the dash. You likely have one Flint and one St Louis assembled Blazer (or a very early model year assembly 72 Flint).
