Heater Core 88 K1500 -- Help with removing

Anyone have pictures and details on how to get the heater core out of 1988 K1500 with AC, all other ID on the truck should be in my signature file below. I have pictures of what I think might be a leak, but not sure.

I have opened up/removed the fan and motor in the cab, and I can see the heater core. The pan beneath the core has what looks to be some antifreeze in it. Everything feels oily around the bottom of the pan, seeping into the interior along the firewall.

There is a tray that needs to be removed right above the passenger floor board. Roughly 6-8 bolts to be removed. When you unbolt and lower the tray the heater core will come with itas long as the hoses are disconnected.

Thanks, FMBL. That tray is almost off. There is one screw in the back, next to the firewall, very hard to get a socket behind there.

I was just about to get the hoses off and a downpour started, and the garage is full of bicycles. Tomorrow ...

I'm thinking there is some kind of leak, but I've been reading that the heater core can get blocked up sometimes. It's pretty nasty looking, just the photos I got from taking out the fan. Is there a drain in that pan? Does AC condensation have a tube to drain somewhere on that pan, or would that be on the engine side of the firewall?

in case you or the next owner has to put in another heater core, it would save a headache if you didnt put that particular screw back in

You could leave the bolt out. If you are using a 1/4 drive you might have to pull the carpet back a little to get to it. I had to replace mine 3 times within 1 year. I was buying them from Autozone. Finally get a good one from Oreilly's.

So glad you said that, I was just wondering where to get one. Online, I found prices under $75, but hard to tell about quality. Some guys said avoid ones made anywhere but US, then others said ones from China were ok. One place online had Delco with 12 mo/12000 warranty. I'll check with O'Reilly down the street. I'll report back.
