AN power steering hoses

I want power steering back when I drop in my new/rebuilt LT1, and the big issue is power steering hoses.

Has anyone used a AN line kit for the hoses?

What did you think?

Would you go custom hoses from the hose man or equivalent?

We made our own AN lines for a '68 Chevelle in 2015, from memory it's a special hose rated at higher pressure than normal AN hose and uses fitting made specifically for that hose. Its stiffer and doesn't flex quite as well as normal AN hose.

I've always used the teflon lined -6 on the pressure side. Zero failures. On the return side you can you can use standard rubber lined -6.

I have a hydroboost that runs to the power steering rack. All the lines are -6an style in the whole system.

Which hydro boost set up did you go with?

I forgot I could now add that too for a little better stopping.

I believe it came off a 2002 Silverado 1500/2500. I found it on Amazon for cheap as the package had been opened. I flipped it upside down to clear the valve covers, so I couldn't use the standard lines. You can buy the fittings that screw in the hydroboost unit that converts the threads to -6 an.

Re: AN power steering hoses

I was thinking when I do my power steering why not add hydro boost. It won't be any easier.

I have to go to pick a part to scrounge up some ideas
