Length of Transmission Dip Stick

I have a 72 Blazer 4x4 and am trying to find out the proper length of the Transmission Dip Stick. The one in mine is 24" and I have seen them anywhere from 24-33. Does anyone know the true length needed? Thanks in advance for any guidance on this

Re: Length of Transmission Dip Stick

Hey Blazin71,

I lost my Th350 4x4 dipstick somehow while rebuilding the engine. I bought one at a scrap yard out of some random 350 and it was about 4 inches too long. I realized then, and after talking to a My local trans shop. That’s not all dipsticks are created equal, and even further, it depends on your dipstick tube. I ended up having to take off the tube and taking it down to the shop for comparison. There I picked up an identical dipstick and an unnecessary extra tube.

Short version:
It depends on your tube length/application. Full line should be above submerged trans filter.

Not a transmission expert, just regurgitation shop guy advice. Good luck.
