Finally getting some time to work on her again. Tackling the interior as my dad bought a stereo. So yesterday my uncle and I installed it roughly just to see where it should be placed etc. It was fine for around town but on the freeway you couldn't hear anything so time for some peel and seal aka cheap man's dynamat.

Speaker boxes done. They fit on the lower corners and angle up a bit. The speakers are polk audio my cousin doesn't use anymore vintage early 2000sbut they sound great to me. Wiring mostly complete until I get the center mount speaker from hertz. All said and done 200 bucks for the head unit and center mount speakers everything else is from the scrap bin and the old polk audio speakers my cousin was going to toss out anyway.

Re: Moms wedding present 49 chevy 5 window LS 4L60e TCI frame

are the speakers boxed or still open? you can probably stuff some fiberfill (pillow stuffing from a fabric store) behind the speaker and in the gap between the sheetmetal and the open back and it will really improve the bass response.

nice work! if you are thinking about tunes already there isnt a lot left!

They are closed, we put some bubble wrap in there lol. No where close to done. I did just buy some home house carpet and padding instead of jute and a carpet kit as my floor pan is raised for the 4l60e

Re: Moms wedding present 49 chevy 5 window LS 4L60e TCI frame

Classic car stereo is on point just got them in today and installed the Hertz sound great. Got some boots put in for the shifter and brake pedal. I went to an upholstery place they wanted 150 for the boot 900 for my seat and 850 for my floor!!! 4 bucks for the boots from home depot and 18 bucks for a rug and 25 for a carpet pad. We will see how it goes

Do you have links to the stereo and Hertz speakers/brackets. Did you mount the speakers behind the Chevrolet grill?

Yes I did. They sound really good. As if I didnt already have the Polk Audio in the rear, I might not even have tried to add them.

Finished up the peel and seal. Laid down some carpet padding from HD now trying to decide grey or black carpet. It will also be from HD it's an inside/ outside area carpet.

Neo here's some other pictures of the grill with speakers.

nice work on the speakers, I just did the same thing.

Since you asked, with the color of your interior, I like the tan.

I was at station 7 in the Mission for 15 years. Then promoted and was at 19 by SF state for 1 year. Now I’m at the Division of Training teaching the new recruits for a year. Were you DPH?
