72fleetside in San Diego

After letting my truck sit in the back yard for 12yrs, decided to get her going again. I've always enjoyed working on old cars & trucks. I was 16 and my brother was stationed in Okinawa and wrote home & said that I could have his 55 2dr hardtop. That's where it all started. Fixed her up, took autobody shop classes at night school, traded for 38 coupe, traded that for really clean 58 impala, traded that for a 36ford truck, then sold it etc etc etc.. Getting older & lost count.

Years later, eventually settled for something with power steering & brakes. Dropped in all new running gear in 2005, and at some point my work required more of my time & I parked it in the back yard. 3 weeks ago I changed oil & filter, get her started but kept sputtering. So I & replaced the tank (under bed), flushed line, new fuel pump, filters & carb. & she's running great (took her out really slow) But doesn't stop very well. Looking for a place to redo & upgrade the brake system in San Diego/Chula Vista area. Suggestions welcomed

already learning a few tricks from the forum. My brakes are fine, turns out I didn't connect the vacuum line from booster when I installed the new carb.

Glad to hear you've got it up and running again. Seems like there are a lot of new people on the site from southern California. Hopefully you can get out and drive it and enjoy it. At least I know your weather down there is a little more supportive, haha. Welcome toto the site, and I hope that you find all of the information and encouragement you need to bring your truck up to where you want it to be.
