Replaced the rear drums and shoes on the truck today. Ordered all new AC Delco stuff from Rock Auto. Two drums, two sets of shoes and a hardware kit was only $146.33 shipped.

Outstanding work, I really enjoyed reading and seeing the progression of this project. I am willing to bet your grandfather is watching and is very pleased. I am glad you were able to save the paint, my project unfortunately will have to have a repaint.

Glad to see another fine truck saved. We'll done!

Re: Bringing my Grandfather's 1972 Longbed Stepside C10 back to life

Was able to swap all the rubber and felts on the passenger door window and vent window. What a pain in the ass to grind off all the rivets and have to rivet the vent window back together. Got it all buttoned up. Will do the driver's door sometime this week and will do better before and after pics.

Both doors are now finished up, so much quieter in the cab! Also glad to not have my driver door window clanging inside the door when opening or shutting it!

Running good! Trans is all sealed up now, no more leaks! Still have the small oil leak, but trying to work with motor manufacturer and shop to get together to agree on what needs to be done and how much will be paid to get the oil pan gasket swapped.

Truck is still running good fortunately. Seems to be running better the more I drive it as it is breaking in! Still trying to work with the warranty company on getting the oil pan gasket replaced, they are hard to get a hold of! Thank goodness as of now it is a very minor leak.

The truck is still holding up well, and can fit a disassembled 15ft trampoline in the bed! Still working on a few things here and there. Needs new trunnions in the tailgate, so that will probably be next!
