Another new guy

Been visiting the site off and on for a couple years, ya know checkin out stuff every now and then. I bought a 72 Cheyenne shortbed fleetside 4x4 about a month ago. Its been my dream truck and now i have one, so this is my new project. its gonna be one of those slowly but surely types of things. It's got a 327, turbo350 AC PB PS. She runs like a top, but wont stop for anything! it has been sitting for years, and the brakes dont work. i bought a new master cylinder, slapped it on and they worked, a lil spongy, but they stopped me! so i bled em once more and after that, no brakes, so i'm back to where i started!

Brakes

Have you been under it to check and see if there is fluid running out at one of the wheels. If it sat for a long period of time I would suggest a shop look at it. You said you bleed them a couple of times did you refill the brake fluid. I would check the back brakes and all the lines to see if any thing is missing.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Yup, I've looked around for a leak and found nothing out of the ordinary. I refilled the fluid level and it's fine. it just seems as if it sucked in in air. If i get time, i'll take the master cylinder off, and bench bleed it again. If it works after that, I'll have a better idea where to start lookin. I should probably go ahead and get new wheel cylinders for the rears since its probably been a while since its had new ones.
Forgot to mention, the truck is real straight except for a dent on the bottom front corner of the bed on the right side and dented rockers from being highcentered and the only rust i have found is surface rust on the floorboards... and i picked her up for $4250.

Welcome from Western, MI! Good luck on your brakes, bleeding the rear brakes can be very difficult.

Instead of bench bleeding the master cylinder, we bleed after the prop valver and return the fluid to the master cylinder with plastic tubing. (If you submerge the tubing, you can bleed the brakes by yourself).

I would go ahead and get some new wheel cyls and then repeat what you have done.

Also make sure the rod dident mess up behind the master cyl.

Nice truck, welcome to the board! If you can't get the brakes to work, Summit racing sells parachutes.

Welcome from Connecticut!
Be sure that the linkage is allowing the piston within the master to return ALL THE WAY BACK when released. This will give you those syptoms also. This could be from an incorrect master and or linkage adjustment/problem. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hey guys, thanks for the welcome, as well as the suggestions and compliments. Once i get some time, I'm going to go get some wheel cylinders and see what that does for me. I'll check out the rod and see how it looks also.
after this problem is solved I'm going to figure out which tranny seal leaks, and replace that. the previous owner says the fluid will come out about as fast as it goes in
