Is it cheating if you pull with the new truck and not the old ones? My 4x4 just barely fit on my trailer.

Longhornmail, I put it on backwards because the front tires wouldn't go between the wheel wells. If you have ever noticed the front axle of a 4x4 is just a little bit wider than the rear, so it fit backwards. I only hauled it for about 1 mile like that. It wouldn't have hauled very good loaded like that if you had to go any distance!! I had it stored at my sisters house and they completly tore out here street to rebuild it. I need to get it home and didn't want to drive it in the mud. You can see the mud on the trailer tires.
( I know, I know, its a 4x4 ).
HIGH724x4, that truck is not for sale. It is my 71 with a restored chassis. It is sitting on 35x12.50x15 Goodyear wrangler MT tires

towbar vs. 2 wheel dolly????

Hello & Howdy Towers,
I need to tow a 86 Pontiac Pariesenne (sp?) from Phx to Tx with my 72 C-10 and Uhaul has both a towbar and a 2 wheel dolley (they say that the full trailer w/ car will be too heavy from my truck????).
Those of you that have towed a distance before, which is better/easier? The bar is $100 less but that won't be worth it if it is more hassle.
Thanks in advance,
1 Leg Lance

Nice set up Tom Hand..
One Legged Lance...I used a tow dolly and took off the drive shaft before towing and pluged the tranny.

Darn, wish I had some pics. I have done a lot of towing recently both of and with my trucks. The one to see was when I had to tow the Burb in for a new clutch. I had the trailer hooked up to the 72 GMC 1500. As I was easing the Burb up on the trailer the tongue of the trailer lifted the back of the pick-up off the ground and it began moving-OOPS. Had to put jack stands under the back of the trailer. I currently have my shed (7.5'x10') on a trailer and it is 14' in the air while on the trailer. It is an interesting site.

Here's the trailer I normally use. It's a bit high in the air but it is pretty well built.

And here's my round bale trailer that will never be the same We had no idea how bad the front end damage was but in hindsight I think we could have used a tow strap and dragged it home easier after we used a bf hammer on the sheet metal and my truck to pull the bumper out of the wheel well. Oh, well, live and learn!
