Re: 69 K20 Fire Truck

I like everything on that truck, grill, bed, utility/toolboxes, front and back bumpers, just everything. I'd put A/C in it and make that my new daily driver if it were mine. Great find.

Yes it is a pretty solid truck and if I decide to keep it I will be installing vintage AC or an original setup that I have access to in the stash.

I thought I knew how also, I am actually a web developer and do this all the time. Must be something in the forum that is stopping it from posting.

Re: 69 K20 Fire Truck

With a knock that loud, I'm wondering if you don't have an exhaust manifold leak, or a broken valve spring. Seconding the Marvel Mystery Oil motion. It couldn't hurt. Followed by a flush and oil change. Use SAE 30. These old engines weren't designed for 5 weight oil.
All the U Tube links worked for me. Comments are disabled. How can people give you advice?

Thanks for the advice, I will take a look at the valve springs and poke around to see if I can isolate it better. I do use only 30W oil in my trucks and stock up by the case whenever it is on sale.

As for the YouTube video I just put it there so I could post in this forum. Last time I had comments on I got so really nasty stuff left on the comments and do not need that in my life. Also with the video I was trying have the video show on the post thread and not open in YouTube page.
Again thanks!

Yeah, with an audience that wide of a spectrum you get everything from Jesus Freaks to NeoNazis. Understandable.
Valvoline VR1 Racing Oil has the elevated levels of ZDDP these old [non-roller rocker] engines require.
I use it.

One of these helps a little bit when tracking down a noise.

Re: 69 K20 Fire Truck

Here's a pick of my 69 K20 that was a fire truck. It has the dark red interior that looks great with the red exterior. Have fun with your truck, they are fun to drive and you'll get a lot of thumbs up!

1969 K20 350 V8 engine noise - YouTube
I tried all of those earlier and none of them produce the video. I suppose that the forum has something turned off or blocked.

Great looking K 20, simple, not overdone. Great contrast between the white wheels and red body. IMO, a white front bumper and silver rear bumper would look even sharper.
