1971 K10 with 16" 6 lug wheels...

This may be a dumb question but how rare is a 1971 K10 with 16" 6 lug wheels? Did they all come with that wheel configuration? Just curious

71 would be first year of disc brakes. Yes they are harder to come by and unique. I know someone on here was looking for a set. If it were my rig id keep em on it.

Yes, I'm planning on keeping them, getting them powder coated white (original) and getting some pizza cutter tires. That's the way my grandpa had it setup.

Hey rdkuffel, Did you ever get them powdercoated white? I have some on my K10 Suburban and was debating on doing the same thing.

I have a set of five. I had to piece them together as I found them. They are in powder coating jail with my Brother-in-law. Going with tall and skinny on a K10. Color is Ditzler 528? I think. Take care, Bruce

Answer, no. Its an old thread, but an interesting topic. For newbees, most 1/2 tons came with 15" wheels, 16" were optional, but not a common option. Hard to find if your vehicle did not come with them originally. I've always been a fan of the "Billy Jack" look.

Hello,
I was wondering what the difference in the 3 nub vs. 4 nub. I have a qty of 4 of the 3 nub and one 4 nub. Was the 4 nub the spare rim? I also notice the one with 4 nubs has different openings in the rim. All are 16", 6 lug on my 1972 K-10

3 nubs are for our trucks. 4 nubs are age appropriate for square bodies. They will interchange, but the windows are shaped different. Bruce

3 nub with rectangular vents is '62-'70, 4 nub with trianglur vents is '71 thru mid 80's. Both use the same 10 1/4" 1/2 ton hubcap.

I also have this one I had picked up. Is this the same as the 3 on my truck?

Another question......I want to use these 15" deep rims on my 1972 K-10. These came off a 1973 Blazer. Any problem using these fitment wise/backspacing? If these work, I might sell the 16", as I don't care for the look compared to these. Thoughts?

Yes, they will work on a '72 also.

If anyone is looking for 16" steel rims you can buy new ones at etrailer.com.
I got mine there. You have to use the 3/4 ton hub caps, but if that's the look your looking for they work with our six lug pattern. I got mine for about 50.00 a piece.

Elpound is correct- for 3/4 ton, but the 6 lug 16" 1/2 ton steel wheel that holds the factory cap are made out of unobtanium.
