Re: "is this a scam?"

Thanks everyone for your replies & comments !

Yes there were red flags...... And this guy was trying to move the deal along fast..... I'd had never experienced being scammed before, I'm not a dummy but just want other peoples opinions that may have been there before.

Thanks again everyone !!!!!

Re: "is this a scam?"

It happened to me years ago(and I smelt a rat) and I took all the info to the cop shop and they said it was fraud and that they couldn't even trace it back to who it was back then as they cover their butt pretty good while trying to rip you off !!! I dont really know why they cant trace it for sure but as they say :Buyer and Seller Beware "!!!!

Re: "is this a scam?"

These people need to get a frigging job and stop trying to steal from people that are hard workers.

I have an email address, a name and a cell number, but most likely it's all bogus !

SCAM SCAM SCAM. You did the right thing and question this guys intention. If you are buying and selling over the Internet you will eventually run up against a scammer. Seems we all have.

Re: "is this a scam?"

I recently sold a car on craigslist and I must have gotten a dozen or so responses from people trying to pull some sort of paypal scam. I responded with 2 words "cash only" and never heard from them again.

Re: "is this a scam?"

Once again.............. Thanks to everyone !!!! Let my experience be a lesson, a warning to everyone else that these scum-bags are out there.....

I'm putting these parts out there for sale to pass them along, so other people can finish their projects.... Not always cheap, because I paid a good price for them, But to have some A-Hole try and rip you off !!!! WTF......

I hope others on this board learn from my experience !!!

Re: "is this a scam?"

The first one was a moron. It's difficult to even decipher what his scam was. I guess he was going to trick you into signing into a fake paypal account and steal from you that way.

I'm glad these idiots make it so obvious. More people could get "taken" if they actually used decent English and set up the scam a little better. Don't ask for more details on an object and in the same sentence say the money is on the way.

IMO, it's not that it can't be done.... it's simply a matter of priorities. Say for instance it involved national security, perhaps a threat against, well, a very important person. They'd likely know exactly who the perp was, in short order. But consumer fraud happens so often and is so minor in comparison, there simply aren't the resources to devote to tracking down the scoundrels, unfortunately. Theft is still a crime with real victims, and in a perfect world, the perpetrators would be dealt with swiftly.

Re: "is this a scam?"

Unfortunately, craig's list has become such a haven for scammers, and there's really not much way to get rid of them.

"Buyer, and Seller beware". If it sounds fishy, or too good to be true. it probably is.

Re: "is this a scam?"

This is very simple. If you still have both of their emails, just forward one to the other and forward the second one to the first!!!. Keep them on file and the next time the prince of abu hutirenily or somewhere else sends you the winning lottery ticket, you know where to forward that to also!!

Re: "is this a scam?"

I was talking to a guy today that said; That somehow they get the checks to clear the your bank when you deposit them, but by the time the funds are being pulled from the account there drawn on they bounce. This is why they want to be very quick with the deal.

I get a email exactly like that almost every time I sell something on Craigslist! It's absolutely a scam.
