72 GMC Build

I am starting a project within the next few weeks. I aquired a 72 GMC SWB truck a year ago from a guy who was getting divorced. He had completely disassembled everything, the frame is al ready painted with some lowering springs and shocks. Engine has been rebuilt and some body work has been done. He basiclly opened up his garage and said get everything that looks like it belongs to a truck. Got everything for $1000. All the pieces of the truck are at my Dads but are coming to my garage this weekend. I will get some pictures on Monday.

Re: 72 GMC Build

Didn't get the framed moved today, it started raining. Hopefully I will get it moved one day this week. I am planning to get this thing low. I would like to do a step notch and drop member. This build will take a while. Any suggestions on what to tackle first? I am thinking frame/suspension.

Re: 72 GMC Build

I have been cleaning the cab out this week and sorting thru all the parts. While sorting I found a few Sierra badges. From the looks of the truck it was loaded with all the options.

I need your input on somthing. I am wanting this truck low which requires frame modifications. Would it be better to use this frame and keep the original parts together or use an extra long bed frame that I have? Look forward to hearing for you.

Re: 72 GMC Build

I think I am going to use the short bed frame. It will probably be alot easier since this is my first build. Don't want to complicate things to much.
