Highlander Interior

Yesterday I ordered the blue plaid seat cover from SMS (8 week lead time). That pretty, new seat cover is going to make the rest of the interior look bad. So, guess what I have to do now???

I need input from those with experience for where to get a dash pad, carpet, door panels (parchment) , and arm rests (parchment). So...where do I get the good quality interior pieces?

Thanks!

Re: Highlander Interior

Carpet go with ACC for a company. They make good carpet. I’m not sure who carries good door panels these days, truckseats used to here on the boards and they were great quality.

Re: Highlander Interior

On the dash pad, if you locate the material, it's not that difficult to repair your original. This was my first time doing it and I was very pleased... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ht=dashpad+diy

Re: Highlander Interior

rockauto.com for the ACC carpet - same carpet everybody else sells for way less. Just picked up 2 sets of 80/20 nylon with mast backing (thick rubber for sound deadening) for my projects.

Re: Highlander Interior

On the dash pad do a search and you will find threads dedicated to the short comings of dash pads available today. Doing a search on your parchment pieces should come up with similar findings. Unfortunately you're not going to find a supplier that has perfect OE replacements.
I will say that careful installation will make a difference when installing a repop pad.

Re: Highlander Interior

If RockAuto doesn't have the color you need, try Stockinteriors.com for a wider variety of ACC carpet colors. I got my turquoise carpet through them at about the same price as RockAuto. They have five colors of blue to choose from. They can also offer the C10 carpet in other colors that are listed under Monte Carlo, Camaro, etc.

Yes, I do. They are a bit rough. Don't know if you can see in the pics but they seem to be beginning to break down (sort of flaking away). Not sure if I can restore them. The arm rests are clearly black repops.

What do you think...restorable? If so, how do I go a bout it?

Thanks!

Re: Highlander Interior

Light media blasting, using walnut shells or used glass bead will take them back to solid surface.

Light sand blasting is worth a try. You've got nothing to loose.

What do recommend for the psi? Large or small nozzle?

Re: Highlander Interior

ACC black Carpet from RockAuto (cheapest) or Stockinteriors.com(best customer service). Black dash pad and Parchment white arm rests by the brand OER from Summit Racing (don’t buy Counterparts!). When you’re on the phone w/them ask them for a can of Parchment white spray dye/paint by OER manufactured by Colorbond to spray your door panels. Recondition your door panels or buy another pair of GM panels. Aftermarket 72 door panels are garbage.

Re: Highlander Interior

17 weeks and counting on the SMS seat covers. Hope I don't end up regretting the purchase. Will try to call them next week to see what's up.

Definitely restore those! I have restored door panels in worse shape than that. I’m usually over on the 73-87 side, but I’m all about restoring our trucks interior parts, even the seatbelts. I’ve been doing a few seatbelts lately for the earlier trucks.
Threads are on my Signature there at the bottom.

CARSINC. says they have the blue plaid seat covers in stock. I would call and confirm.

I am local to SMS and I will say the Covid infections are currently at a fairly high level here and many local businesses especially the small ones are closed or only able to be open part time.

Re: Highlander Interior

Received an email saying my seat covers have shipped. Scheduled to arrive by Wednesday!

Was at a swap meet in southern Oklahoma yesterday. A vendor there had all colors of Highlander interior on display. Looked pretty good but did not have the scroll work on the borders. They wanted $850 so I am feeling good about what I paid.

Now I'm behind in getting everything else I need for other projects when the truck is out of service for the seat cover.
