Thumbs up Re: any cool REAR VIEW mirrors?

Long story short.
I went to O-riley's and bought a plastic one with the glue. It held for about a month and feel off. The 07 Tahoe need a new windsheild from where a rock got it coming back from the beach. While the guy was there I asked if he could fix it. Sure enough he did and didn't charge me a penny!

Some neat ideas. I think Moon has a few neat mirrors, I believe I saw one that was a surfboard, if you have a surf or tiki theme going on your truck it would be kind of cool.

I work at place that sells the compass temp mirrors, we also have the mirrors with back up camera in them. but the newest item is the rearveiw mirror with 3.5 in screen that has a back up camera and navigation in it. they are frickin expensive. check out the website. there is also instruction on installation.

Re: any cool REAR VIEW mirrors?

I used this one (see attached picture), for about 2 Months,
and then decided to go in another direction, so I replaced it.
Tried selling it in the Classifieds late last year, but no one was interested.

I'm going in the Brushed Aluminum direction for my Interior this time.

Talking Re: any cool REAR VIEW mirrors?

Ok so it's been awhile but I have good news for everyone. These mirrors are so simple it's not even funny how to wire them.
It only took me 11 years to figure it out!

The new 453 Nissan mirror is the one you want. It comes in several models and there are other makes also but I try and stay with Nissan's. The older model is the 177 model that looks like the GM mirror with the compass stuff on the mount. The newer 453 model has it all inside the mirror casing much better looking and the moved the wire plug under the mount for a cleaner install. The Nissan mirror takes a certain senor for the temperature probe so the Chevy probe want work. Just make sure you get the probe along with the mirror and your good to go. They are however on E-bay but they are expensive.
From what I have seen & learned is the wires are all kinds of colors but they are mostly in the same locations so as long as you know the correct wires to use your good. The GM mirrors use a flat connector and the nissan uses a 2 row connector.
The last picture is of a new 453 I installed in my 64 SS Impala. I used the factory mirror mount with adapters to use the mirror. It works great. I have even found how to change the color of the read out also. I have the 71 & Ramp truck with red digital read outs.

Thumbs up Re: any cool REAR VIEW mirrors?

A little more info and pictures. The first and second pictures show the GM & Nissan temperature probes. They hookup the same but they are clibrated differently to read the temperature.

The 3 picture shows the old mirror with the compass on the mount of the mirror, this is a 313 mirror out of the GM trucks. It's just a auto dimming, compass & temperature mirror.

The 4 picture shows the newer mirror with out the compass stuff on the mount, it's a Nissan mirror. 453 model. It also is mounted to the factory 64 Impala stem with home made adapter and a aftermarket adapter.

The last picture shows I changed the color of the mirror read out.

Re: any cool REAR VIEW mirrors?

Yep, best $50 investment I’ve made. It has compass , no temp, but was more interested in the Home Link. I hate having to carry an opener. Super great upgrade, for a driver like mine anyway. Used a cntx-453 from eBay.

Yes they are nice upgrades to the factory mirror.
