Parchment Interior/ACC sandlewood carpet

Does anyone know if ACC "19 Fawn Sandlewood" is actually correct for a 72 Parchment interior? I'd like to see an original carpet and if it compares. I've run a bunch of searches and only found a few pics of a Parchment w/ tan carpet, and the carpet looked darker than the ACC Sandlewood.

Thanks!

Re: Parchment Interior/ACC sandlewood carpet

All my 71/72 trucks with Parchment interior and tile wheel had black carpet originally. If I got new carpet I got a color that looks like what is being shown as Sandalwood. It was called light brown or gold, wasn't claiming to be a GM color but looks right.

I wonder why the interior shown in post #3 has a black steering wheel and column but not the dash pad. No matter what the colors those should all be the same. I think that interior is not factory correct. Not sure about Tristan's Blazer. I have only owned original trucks with saddle interior with that color carpet

Re: Parchment Interior/ACC sandlewood carpet

Not to deviate to far from your question Tom, but I believe Special K is correct on the 71/72 information. My 70 C30, when bought a few years ago appeared to have stock interior, off white color OE vinyl seat cover, door panels and visors, sandalwood brown steering column and dash pad. It came with a OE rubber/vinyl floor mat, no carpet. But what struck me is that the top dash was painted the off white color / flat texture. I found that was standard practice in truck cabs. Never knew that.
On the carpet, AAC is the best I've found to be near to the exact GM colors.

I originally thought all tilt columns got a black wheel and black dash pad as well, but apparently that's not the case. Member joesjunk has an original tilt column truck with parchment interior and it got a sandlewood dash pad and sandlewood/tan mat. He said he's had a couple that way. Hopefully he'll chime in here.

Is that a saddle carpet? Is it close to your original interior?

Re: Parchment Interior/ACC sandlewood carpet

Yes, the carpet is dark saddle and very close to the original carpet color. There is one plot twist though: on my Jimmy's SPID it shows a saddle interior but every stitch of the original well-worn upholstery was parchment when I bought the truck. I decided to keep it that way as apparently it was an assembly line mistake. The truck had factory tilt per the SPID which may account for the black steering wheel and dash pad.

And here is another 71 I had last year, Fremont built with parchment interior. Same sandlewood dash pad with factory tilt. But notice the sandlewood colored A/C vents? Another plant variation

Re: Parchment Interior/ACC sandlewood carpet

Thanks for the pics! As discussed, the ACC sandlewood looks more of in the taupe family than the OEM carpet, which looks more tan/gold, and I don't think it's correct. Only problem now is, we need to have ACC send you all of their samples in the correct color family so we can determine what is correct. Haha.

It looks good with the dark saddle, especially with the wood grain door inserts.

Re: Parchment Interior/ACC sandlewood carpet

I'd have to see a whole lot more Parchment interiors with tilt that don't have black column, wheel, and dash pad to not see it as a fluke. So far I have had more trucks than shown that had black with parchment interior and tilt from those plants and that's what I'm used to seeing. Personally, I never liked the non-matching black and would change to sandalwood. Kinda dumb to have the interior upgraded with tilt not look as good w/o the option.

Re: Parchment Interior/ACC sandlewood carpet

All I know is I’m regretting buying Olive carpet for my K20. I went back and forth between Sandalwood and olive. I’m wishing I had bought sandalwood. I went with olive because it’s correct for the truck. I too have never cared as much for the black that came with the tilt.

Re: Parchment Interior/ACC sandlewood carpet

I had Gary Terry do me a saddle tilt column in the '80s. It is now in it's third truck, my '72 K2500. I also don't care for the woodgrain in '72 Sierra/Cheyenne door panels. The all vinyl seat with western scroll matches the door panels under that woodgrain and is the only woodgrain in the interior. I traditionally remove and store that. That's how I ended up with the n.o.s. panels I had that I never used. I'm into original, but will stray a bit to make the truck look better using possible combinations GM "could have" done with original parts for that truck. I make my own flukes!

Re: Parchment Interior/ACC sandlewood carpet

Funny you mention the wood grain inserts . I’ve been toying with leaving it out as well. The inserts I’ve got look like trash.(it’s getting hard to find inserts that don’t it seems) the olive 72 door panels I’ve got are in exceptional shape, seems kind of like putting dirty clothes on right after a shower. The I’ve got some nice trim for the inserts So I may do as you say and just leave the wood grain out custom deluxe style. Hadn’t thought of that actually, thanks for bringing it up.

the ACC Sandalwood/ Rock Auto Fawn-Sandalwood matches the '67 Fawn interiors almost perfectly as far as color. Hope that helps.

I just ordered that same carpet. I can post some pictures of it for a better view of the Color when it comes in. The Green 72 truck has a bLack column because it was replanted after the steering wheel was replaced with a black steering wheel. Here are some before pictures i found off of inebriated of the forums.

I know Cheyenne SUPERS with parchment interior always got black carpet, dash pad, and column, with or without tilt wheel

Do you have your original carpet to compare? Interested to see side by side comparison.

That must be what I overlooked. It's Supers I've had I was thinking of.
I remember talking about a/c vent color variations and the Cheyenne vs Cheyenne Super thing came up.
