Truck update and front bumper question

Ok so I finally found a free day that I'm not busy working or helping someone. So I'll be finishing up the rear brakes (except for the lines which I still need to buy) to where I hopefully won't have to take the rear end apart again for awhile. Other than that it's still waiting for the engine to get swapped over to the new frame, then the driveshaft hooked up, then the cab can get moved over. On to the question though, I'm putting a 67 front clip on the truck when I put it back together cause it's what I have and it's in much better shape than the 69 clip that's held together with fiberglass and bondo. When I install the clip though I don't want to mount the turn signals inside the grille. So I was wondering if anyone has installed a 1972 style bumper on a 1967 truck and if so do they have any pictures of it. I know it's kind of odd but for whatever reason I think it'd look better if the grill stayed clean between the headlights. Thanks for any help and info

Re: Truck update and front bumper question

I had to go hunting and stole this of a Barrett-Jackson add but I seriously like the look.

I'm in enough trouble with the GMC brigade for running a Chevy nose with tube grill and GMC emblem on my 71 rather than quad lights but oh man I like the look of the 67 nose with the 72 bumper.
Not digging the square lights the least bit though.

Re: Truck update and front bumper question

Explanation of my 71 GMC.

This was my uncles truck that my aunt gave me but years earler my aunt had wrecked it and I repaired it for her with the parts I could find for a reasonable price at the time and installed the single Chevy light core support and a tube grill that got rusty sitting and I painted satin black when I got the truck.
The GMC emblem was in a plastic grill laying in the bar ditch a few feet from my mailbox one day and a couple of hours later it was part of my grill.

Park lights are the original 71 park lights but I couldn't get my hands on a 71 Bumper at the time. It will get a chrome 71 bumper and some fog or driving lights where the park lights are now,.

Re: Truck update and front bumper question

It's odd to look at because I so used to seeing the 67's with the lights in the grill, BUT I really like the clean grill look that the 72 bumper allows!

I have to say that is a good look. With the sig lamps moved that grille looks amazingly like a 70 Chevelle grille. Very nice.

Re: Truck update and front bumper question

The way I see it the truck gave up a cleaner bumper to gain a cleaner grille, not that the lights in grill jump out at you or take away from the grille anyway. But I'm not hating on it. It's definitely possible, just nothing I would do. I think the reason it resembles the 71/72 Chevelle grille is because the headlamp bezels are painted like the Chevelles are

Re: Truck update and front bumper question

thanks for the quick reply and picture, also I honestly don't mind the single lights and tube grille in your truck mr48chev, I think the downfall there is the gmc logo in the grille rather than leaving them on the hood. I still like it though, and it does look kind of like a chevelle grille when the lights aren't there which is partially why I'm doing it but it's more for the clean look.

Re: Truck update and front bumper question

Except '70s had dual headlights I just like how GM did them. Why mess with perfection? What I see is someone didn't get the right parts.

It was a friend who is a hard core GMC fanatic that gave me a hard time about it. To him not having the GMC grill and quad lights is a sacrilege. I looked pretty hard for the original pieces when I was sticking it back together for my aunt and The only one I found at the time required buying a whole truck to get it. I was so broke in those days that church mice brought me care packages.
