Easy peasy day of installing the real truck wheel and found out signal switch was junk. Basically came apart.
Have a new switch so no problem, nope.
Because of the junker I just cut the wire from the half moon plug n pulled everything out. Going to wire the new and the half moon connector doesn't fit unto the wire run for the tilt. The first column cover is off but can't figure the tapered shift lever cover removal. Column is in a neutral position. All levers are removed. The only other way I see is to pull the pins in the half moon but trying a dozen different approaches I've struck out with that too.
Lots of search time reveals noting specific other than try this...
I would prefer not to but would disconnecting the column shift mechanism to the transmission on the engine side of the firewall allow the 'bucket' to slide down the column a bit to make room for the half moon?
Tilt lever is in the pics trying different angles.

I got this one from Classic Industries. They show the two different hazard switch styles, button and the red hazard. Went with the red. Mine had been replaced before with an unknown and was a lighter construction than the one I got. Complete junk...
The GM units would be nice but at $100+!? This one was like 50 and a solid unit. Tilt, PN 1997961

I know mine is incorrect because the hazard on this one is "black"

When I was getting the turn signal canceling working, the mech seemed very "cheap" when I was comparing it to the old OEM (on-tilt) Column I took out.

So that bowl, how did you get that off?

I was able to get the old signal out pretty easily (like I saw on a You Tube), since the hazard could come off (black pull). I have my new signal wires down the shaft but the new signal Red Hazard pull doesn't come off and I cannot get it down into the bowl.

I do have a tilt from a fellow named Randy here on the forms (I have no idea if it is a real C10 Column) . I have the tilt lever off but i can't figure out how the bowl comes loose/out - feeling really stupid.

The shroud can be a stinker...sometimes they just pop off if you can get a long small head flat screwdriver down in there to release one side then twist a bit and pull. I had to use a wheel puller with the two hook tabs on the inside rolled edge to pop it loose. A gentle tap on a block across the face should reseat it.
Don't feel bad about all this. It took a bit of cussing and staring at it to figure it out. That's why everyone is here to help.

I have three different pullers, none allow me to reverse :'( So looks like I'll be getting on from O'Riley's up the street. At least I don't need to buy it.

So, when this Shroud/Cover/Bowl comes off, no other parts under this thing will fly out?

none of the pullers from O'Riley's or Auto Zone were of any help. But Andy4639 ended up helping me by suggesting a small screwdriver inside the tilt shaft hole and tapping the bowl up. Then I switched to the hazard side and did the same. Back and forth, tap, tap tap. Then it came out little by little!

I guess I'll hop back to my thread that started me down the road of replacing the signaler.

Glad you made it work. That was going to be my next try if I hadn't gotten lucky. I have the puller kit from O'Reilly's. It wasn't the greatest for this. Had to get it assembled at a funky angle and I got lucky enough for it to loosen up enough I could pop it loose. If someone did this often enough, filing or grinding the hook tabs thinner would allow it to grab much better.

Funny thing, I was just adjusting my antenna and my neighbor came out to leave for work. He said, damn you work on your truck more than I do with all my cars (he as like 3 cars they work on).

I told him, she just need her antenna straighten. Can't have her be driving down the road with a crooked antenna! He about feel over laughing :-D

Though he knows I was working on it all afternoon into the night on the signaler (I had asked him about a puller when he *came home from work*! But I have not regretted working on the truck with my various "projects". While I have gotten frustrated from time to time, at the end I step back and smile and think, gee that was a bit of fun LOL
