Re: 49 ls1

Yup. I ditched the inline 2 psi residual pressure check valves, and went with a Speedway master cylinder with no internal check valves. Works great now. New trans went in on Thursday, just in time for All Truck Nats on Friday. Truck was a smashing success, and got it's share of attention all weekend!

OK,this is big news. Are you driving it?

I guess the only sad part about your truck being so low and awesome is that you will never be able to photograph that really low master cylinder and linkage setup

Re: 49 ls1

Thanks Low Elco... Good seeing you there as well.

CharlieSheen; not really driving it yet. Runs and drives, but needs some things before I'll start hitting the highway. I'll get under it next time I have it up in the air and take a pic or two. there are lots of pics on how I did the bracketry, early on in this thread though.

Rustytruck50; Thank you, I had a blast at the show, I love building things a "little different" than everyone else.

I ran the mason's line along my intended axis to be sure that I kept my upper links parralel to it during installation.

I know, more mud, sorry. Not very good at explaining. Here is a link to a 4x4 site with much better information on 4 links

Once you've read that, and understand it, here's a link to a fancy 4 link calculator on Pirate...

Hope that helps

sorry to go way back n bring this up i read the article understand 4 link lot better now but for yours did you use the stock crossmember to get your 45% angle for upper bar links and made a custom crossmember to mount to or how'd you get the angle for your upper bar links? again sorry bringing up this im going to be bagging my 49 very soon here

Re: 49 ls1

I made my own cross-member to support my links. Where did %45 come from? When you design you links, the theoretical line should intersect just behind the transmission (top view), and these same lines should be within 50-80% of your COG (vertical center of the bell housing. Your instant center is the point at which the theoretical lines of you your upper and lower links would intersect.

Re: 49 ls1

Okkkkk gotcha gotcha so with in that 50-80% you still want upper links to be around a 40 degree? And the instant line you say where lowers n uppers should meet. I always thought the lowers just went straight along the frame just aslong as they are parallel to ground when setting ride height. Same with uppers be parallel to ground. But all n all got to make a sketch n get cog before knowing 4 link length or anything really.

Yes, definitely use a link calculator (I posted a link earlier in this thread). Your lower's can be close to parallel, but the uppers should triangulate, the degree of triangulation will be dictated by where you want your instant center. Instant center should be near center mass of your engine (front to back).

I hope that's about as clear as mud... LoL

Re: 49 ls1

skymangs, sick truck, I'm working on a similar project and had a few questions for you.

Where and how did you place the TCC on your brake pedal assembly?

Did you mount the TAC with the ECM?

How do you like the Hot Rod Flatz paint? Easy to shoot? Easy to maintain?

Re: 49 ls1

Henny... The TCC goes to the output side of your brake light switch. Mine us on the firewall (original style)

My truck is cable throttle, but when I do drive by wires, I mount the TAC module behind the dash

My truck isn't hot rod Flatz, but I've used it before, and I like it. very reasonable cost, and not bad to spray either.

Chris,

Did you mount the exhaust tips to the running board? If I missed that somewhere, my apologies!
