Rant - LMC

Now that really chaps my hide!

A week ago I was looking for a new rubber mat. And I asked around on here and was told LMC had this special full size one (no tails). I went to their site and couldnt find it. They say they have their catalog in PDF - cant find that either. So I called them and asked. They said - Oh we dont have the PDF up yet. And the only rubber mat we have has tails. I said ok, and they wanted to send me a catalog anyway so I said fine.

Today I get the catalog, not 2 days after installing the mat with tails, and right there in a 8x10 color glossy picture with the circles and arrows..... erm.... well they have a picture of a full size mat!

I hate stupid people that tell me that they are absolutely sure (I asked her twice) and THEY ARE WRONG!

end report.

Remember,
The people on the phones at LMC are just operators. they dont know "squat" about our trucks. Dont get me wrong I love there catalog. I ordered parts from them last week twice and got 2 different operators. Try some of the vendors on the board. Bill Athey has just about everything LMC has and is cheaper on most items. Plus owns some wicked trucks. Same goes for GMC Pauls and WES. I am heading to Arizona next month so I will start bugging WES and Paul soon for parts. Its just too easy to get stuff from Bill since he is just up the road from me.....

LMC sucks...there's no way around it.
I have NEVER gotten an order that was 100% correct. Not from LMC anyways.

That "pickemup" is not me--- PICKMUP! Please don't make that mistake. I would not publically criticize someone else's price on parts. We just don't do that here!

All you had to do is just
show up there during their business hours and pick up the parts you need,I do it all the time. They are short of help like you said.I think they are asking everyone that comes through the door if they would like a job.

I've had the opposite experience with LMC.
EVERY order I've ever made there has come when they said it would with all the parts I ordered.

The last couple of years I have been buying stuff through board sponsors however I hate to see LMC get knocked around here all the time.

I don't work for LMC or have any financial interest in the company.

Yeah, Ive used many retailers on here. GMCPauls, LMC, ClassicMuscle, Early Classic, Chevy Duty, Mothertrucker, etc, etc. Ive used LMC with no problems in the past, but it just seems like all my orders have gotten messed up lately, no matter where I get stuff from. Bad luck I guess.

LMC - poor phone support, but now I know better.

Mothertruckers - ordered seat foam, was told to expect it in 4 days, took 11. had to wait till the next weekend.

GMCpauls - ordered repop tow hooks, dont fit stock location. but then again, I didnt ask specifically if they would fit, but they were listed under 68-72 parts.

Brothers - order put on backorder, called 3x and after holding for 10min put in voicemail. tried to cancel but it was shipping that day so I said ok.

ClassicMuscle - ordered door latch - didnt ratchet correctly. rebuilt the original instead

The only error free parts Ive gotten have been off this board! Thanks guys! Oh well, I guess getting parts is just part of the battle.

Rick,
http://s-c-t-p.com/index.html,
Not to be rude but I dont see any issue with criticizing parts prices (as long as its tactful), everyone is looking for the best deal possible, I have used just about everyones source ( not gmcpauls, wes, classiclemuscle, or mothertruckers) for parts and (over 5K) rebuilding my truck, every vendor i have used has had problems with there parts EXCEPT Bills' luckily i have had the opurtunity to go to his shop and see what i was buying. I waited over a month for a 1 piece window kit and never got it, had to cancel the order. I got the wrong 4 way coloumn knob, the wrong shifter knob, bad sheet metal, bad battery box, and just got the cheapest mirrors, never seen glass rust through....these are. guess I'll be buying a new set. The only way to fix it is to go to taiwan and check there templates.

The issue is, its against board rules, as copied and pasted from the buying and selling code of conduct at the top of this forum:

VI. If you do not like the price of an item, look further. Comments on value, condition etc will not be tolerated.

I'VE ORDERED STUFF FROM BOARD MEMBER VENDORS, ONLY TO HAVE IT DROP SHIPPED FROM L.M.C. I'VE NEVER HAD LMC SCREW UP AN ORDER THAT I PLACED DIRECTLY WITH THEM. I DON'T SEE HOW ADDING ANOTHER PERSON (OR MIDDLEMAN) TO THE MIX IS GOING TO HELP OUT THE SITUATION. JOHN

That only applies to ites posted for sale by members on these forums, stating that a vendor is overpriced is much like a review and is allowable. And being that this is a review post, it is now being moved to the review board.

I've purchased several items from LMC and the only thing I've had a problem with was items getting damaged from poor packaging. The worst was when I ordered my stainless windshield trim from them and after getting the first set that ended up being bent and dented, It took 2 more replacement sets to be able to piece together one good one.
Overall they've been pretty quick on shipping items out, especially when I've had something break on me and had to get a replacement part quickly.

He wasn't doing anything but reviewing a dealer, such as you, who seems to have forgotten to repay vendor fees. Now you have offended another member whom is possibly lost. All because he has a name similar to yours, which is inevitable with a name such as pickmup, on a board about pickups, with 18k+ members. In the future, if you have any issues, contact me, but last i saw it's a free forum and we don't restrict user names just cause they're similar to a common term used by another member.

Lmc

I have had no problems with LMC either. I have had excessive shipping charges from American Classic Truck Parts and questioned them and they could care less. Just my .02 worth
