BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

I'm wanting to put buckets in my 84 but not sure what I need to buy.
I have set of 75-76 seats from a Blazer (picture below) that I would like to recover use but dont think the blazer brackets are any help.
Been reading old posts on installing buckets but cant find much on 81-87 installations.

I've looked at the brackets sold by Chop Shop.
But need to decide on a slider/seat combination that will fit the 84 floor.
Have seen some references to using bench seat sliders but not sure if my 84 bench sliders can be used.
Are there any bracket or slider combination that will work with my seats and fit a 1984 cab ?
Any help or advice is appreciated.

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

The seats you have pictured are actually buckets for the truck. And they take the same track sliders from the 73-76 bench seats. But those are only used on the drivers seat. The passenger seat uses brackets.
Your probably not finding much on the 81-87 installations, because those were actually the high back buckets.
And as far as tracks fitting the cab floor, all the tracks will, from 73-87. It’s whether they bolt up to the bottom of the seat. Certain tracks only bolts directly to it’s corresponding seat frame.

The floors should be the same, Use the seat tracks that fit the seats.

The floors aren’t the same, from the trucks to the Blazers. That’s why the tracks & brackets are different. The tracks I have on my buckets, are just like the truck bench seat tracks.

He was referring to the trucks therefore that’s why I said they are the same 😉

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

First of all, thank, you both for your input !
Actually my seats are from a Blazer, have full plastic backs and passenger side has the flip forward brackets.
Looking at the bolt holes, it doesn't look like the 73-75 bench seat brackets will fit my seats.
My seats only have 4 threaded bolt holes that I can see, the ones in the picture that have the bolts in them.
Or am I missing something ?

Looked up the listing, says for 81-91. Those consoles are different, did it bolt up to yours?

Haven't received it yet, it'll be another 2 or 3 days.
Just thought I can make it work, better than a block of wood, and only $22 shipped so thought I would take a chance.
Do you know where I can buy one like the one you pictured? That's probably what I need.

The guy I got a couple from is a member here on the forum but I believe he got stationed In Japan so I don’t know if he’s around. I got one from a local guy who specializes in restoring 69-80 consoles, he may have a few laying around.

Just saw you needed the piece to raise the console, do you still need it. I had 2 but will have to locate them.

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

Hooverfish

Just wanted to verify this as my factory 1973 low back seat did not have those extra brackets (blue circled in #9)on rear mount to seat frame on drivers tracks. In picture#9 in blue circle I believe is the later style 75-76 seat brackets and 1973-74 buckets the track was only bolted straight to the seat base. So in picture #14 looks like your seat at the rear also only bolts to the seat frame and those blue circled brackets are not used on yours correct?
Just wanted to check as mine never had any marks that those little angled brackets were ever installed there.
Thanks, Mark

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

Hello Mark,
On my seats I used 73-76 bench seat brackets for the Driver side. Had to add two pieces from the Chop-Shop to bolt them in place, circled in blue below.
Also used 4 chop shop brackets on Passenger seat.
Then two C-S brackets that are welded to the floor. Circled in red
Brackets circled in yellow are the two for the Driver seat in pic #1.
And yes, brackets at the rear of the seat bolt directly to the seat.

Hope this answers your question.

He was on Instagram but I just looked and his profile doesn’t exist anymore. Last I talked to him he said the seat brackets never took off. Sold the last few sets. He said he was still gonna make a hybrid setup to work between the early and Latter style low backs, but no idea when.

Re: BUCKET SEATS in a 1984 ??

Perfect information. Just what I wanted to know. On the drivers side I had to repair the two oem brackets you have in yellow and I had cutout the original welded brackets from a couple of cash for clunker suburbans back in the day so I am ready to go on my 73 GMC 4x4 shortbox. Thank you very much. Was going to ask you if you sold those 4 nice GMC chrome 10.5" hubcaps you had on here a while back? Thanks Mark
