Hood latch

Got a general question for everyone.
Has anyone come up with a way or solution for locking your hood, just to keep the honest ones out.
Would like to be able to lock the hood without having to drill hood pins in.

Re: Hood latch

A PO had run a chain with long, but narrow links thru existing cavities in the hood of the '71 GMC Jimmy, when I bought it. The ends of the chain went down below the bumper and were padlocked.
He lived in Venice, CA. A formerly ''nice'' neighborhood that had become increasingly ''urban'' by the mid-'90s.
The downside was, I don't think he ever checked his oil.
I removed the chain, as my area is not an urban combat zone.
But if I have to park Downtown, and I get paranoid vibes, I disconnect the Negative terminal on the battery. If they can't start it right away, they don't have time to troubleshoot a no-start-gripe.

Re: Hood latch

Here is a link to a DIY remote hood release. He used the assembly from an '88-'94 Chevy full size pickup.

From the pics and description it looks pretty easy to do. Hope this helps.
