67 C10 Door Skin

I need to re-skin the passenger door on my 67 C10. After I purchased a repop panel, I noticed there’s a difference behind the inner door handle area. The original door skin has an inner reinforcement panel and it’s missing on the repop panel. Should I remove it and re-use it on the new panel? I’m unsure if this was specific for 67’s or if it’s even needed. I’ve searched the forum and couldn’t find an answer. Does anyone has a link or any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks Leon for confirming this. Got it removed from the old panel. When the weather warms up I’ll get the inner door blasted. My concern is spot welding it back on the new skin.

You do need it. G M would not have spent the money to make and weld it in place if it wasn't needed.

Re: 67 C10 Door Skin

I recently bought a '72 K10 with repop doors, Complete crap. Lighter gauge metal. Door glass surround flimsy. Half the weight of GM doors. better to replace most of an original door.

I would probably bolt the handle in place through the bracket then spot weld it in.

Re: 67 C10 Door Skin

I had Nos skins that didn't have the bracket welded on and I replaced it. They are not needed on 68 72 because of how the outer handle screws angle into the handle so this is a 67 only part. I rechromed my original handles.
