Man, that looks like a lot of bondo that was in that bedside.

I'm sorry that happened to you.

I've been there myself, and the estimates I got for the bedside on my truck was over $1,400.

To make the matters worse the guy(kid) that hit me did not have a license, truck he was driving wasn't registered to him, and the tags were way over due(expired tags). He even hit 3 other people for the same thing, and never paid them for the damages. He would not return my calls or anything.

So I fixed it myself, all i did to mine was hit the inner bed panel with a rubber hammer , and it popped right out like nothing had happened, besides the couple smaller dings above it, and the dent on the cap where the tail light mounted.

i got a quote from a local bodyshop (Nelson & Nelson if you live in P-Town). my dad is a sales rep for sikkens automotive refinishes so he knows his body shops. thats who he told me to take it to. too bad hes not good at body work but we are going to buy all the products at his cost and do all the sanding and painting ourselfs. the body shop quoted 18 hours of body work needing to be done on the side, and they also said that aftermarket bedsides wouldnt fit well and they would have to spend alot of time getting it to. the kid didnt even ask to see the estimate. he just handed me his parents $1295 check. too bad i am honest

$1300 is about right, that's what a body shop would charge. I'm sure that bondo is the skim coat from where the roll pan was welded on. If you had a perfect bed, wouldn't you want it back the way it was? I personally wouldn't drill my bed full of holes and dimple it all to hell and pack it full of bondo when it was solid and straight before. Looks like someone put alot of time into that truck, if it were mine I'd buy a whole new bedside and fix it right. The cost of a new bedside along with the labor of the R&R and re-welding the roll-pan could very well cost $1300.
