Yes, that was mine. We got a cliff rescue call. After it was all done, I figured I'd take the picture as there wasn't much of a chance that I'd get another one There are some wild ideas from the past out there, regarding the center grill light.

Somebody who had the inside line on a bunch of WWII surplus paint and fabric.

The early SS 409 Chevys may have been only 4 speeds too. I just don't remember.
Those Biscayne fender badges look like 396 "TurboFire" to me.
Why buy 442s and Impala SSs when they could get a Cutlass or Biscayne with the big motor. I'm just used to seeing police vehicles based on the low-end models. I think the olive drab & black is the best looking color combination of all. They use yellow in logos and lettering. They stand out while also fairly hidable for speed traps.

I know the state of Virginia had a few Camaros and vettes in the 2010’s that were both marked and unmarked they ran and may still run up and down I95. It wouldn’t surprise me if that C6 is legit.

.

It certainly looks legit but a Z06? I guess they could have seized it from a bad actor and then put it into service.

Great stuff. I'm diggin' the variety. Me? I'm still stuck on Maryland. Here are some cruisers with other livery they experimented with, I'm glad they went back with tradition

The car is a little wrinkled. Damaged in the line of duty though. Neither person is me... The kid in the F150 was doing donuts in an intersection with a crowd. He saw the cop and started to drive off and hit a few people. The cop wasn't havin it.

Edit: The picture is in post 38

Man! I wish some agency would make the strobe light manufacturers turn down the intensity a few notches. They are way hard to not see but they really are blinding at night or in rain or both. I can understand why some people are distracted (or temporarily blinded) by them when they get closer to them.
There is a tow truck operator, in Oregon I think, who will not run strobes for that very reason. They are dangerous for emergency personel as well.

Re: Pic Thread: Police Vehicles

We used to complain about the overhead LED red and blues. It's a safety issue. Before the use of LED, if you pulled up behind another officer doing a traffic stop, you were able to see him or her from your car and as you were walking up. With the bright LEDs, it's impossible to see what you are walking up on and the officer doing the stop can't see if there was anyone walking up behind him or her.

I've had to squint driving by police activity, but never thought of how much it adds to the danger of the officers. Not to be flippant, but bring back the rotating incandescent gum drops!

Those modern caprices are no joke too. That’s an LS powered Pontiac G8/5th Gen Camaro SS wolf in sheep’s clothing. All three are based loosely of the same Holden platform. I work with a few retired LEO’s who drove them and said they are almost too much car for the job with certain officers behind the wheel, but they are a blast to drive hard when you need too.

I have a Kia Forte that I joke about putting a "Police Interceptor" script on. The speedo goes to 160. I can't imagine going even half that fast in the little puddle jumper. Somebody would probably break it off, anyway.

I'm glad to be bringing back (hopefully good ) memories. I have thought about how Maryland has never had any high pursuit vehicles like the Camaros and Muttwangs a lot of states have implemented. But I figure it's because they use plenty fast sedans. If the idea of the sportier models is to be intimidating for being seen as fast cars, the Maryland Trooper paint scheme is intimidating enough as well as their uniforms. Standards have changed, but I recall when the minimum requirement was plus 6' tall and 250#. They wear their hats in USMC fashion which gives off a very authoritative presence. Plus, their sedans are plenty fast. That one by the water is so Maryland
