LS truck intake connection question

What is supposed to be where the big open hole on top of the front of the intake manifold is. Can’t find any diagrams or pictures. I’m sure that has to be closed for vacuum.

Re: LS truck intake connection question

looks like it should have been some type of mount that has finally broken off and has been causing my vacuum leak. Is the intake something I should buy from a wrecking yard or should I upgrade to something better at the time. I have a feeling this must of had a small crack and finnally came off

Re: LS truck intake connection question

Yes, thats the part the Vortec cover bolts to, and its clearly broken off. Never seen one break other than when the truck was in a wreck or the lift chain caught it while pulling or installing the engine. Could have been cracked during a wreck if the truck the engine came out of was wrecked though. I would just get a used GM intake, people practically give them away because they're so plentiful.

Re: LS truck intake connection question

Have a feeling that has been the problem the whole time. Must have cracked the support mount a little when I was removing and transferring the engine/tranny and it finally broke off completely. Small vacuum leak to huge one in one snap. I looked at previous pictures and it looked fine. Got one coming today from a parts yard for $80 and hopefully get it in tomorrow.

Re: LS truck intake connection question

Anything to be careful of when swapping out the intake or proper steps?
