Not accepting registrations
A buddy picked up a 65 he has big plans for. I told him it was a must to use this forum as a resource. At first he was being asked for a credit card for his free registration. Now he just gets a message that registrations are not being accepted. What's up?

Re: Not accepting registrations
Some information can be found here below already, as it is a current topic, in the Site Feedback and Announcements sub-forums.
New member registration / administration There is information to get it requested manually but please be patient with the Admins as they work through the problem that caused them to disabled membership registrations.

Re: Not accepting registrations
I believe registrations have been closed for a while now due to a massive increase of false accounts being established slowing down the Admin approval process.
I know Liz is working as hard as she can to get these fake accounts out of the system, but it takes a lot to work thru the accounts to determine if the are valid or not. Why do spammers do this?...who knows, but its a PITA to deal with. Hope this helps

PM Liz with the username they are trying to register with. I can't remember if she needs any other info or not. Just ask her. LockDoc

Re: Not accepting registrations
At the very least a few Username choices (incase already used) and the email of the user. Maybe name and DOB too (I can't remember the minimum requirements).

Re: Not accepting registrations
How does a fake account work anyway?
How could they scam someone? Seriously curious on that one. |

A couple of different things they can do. They start a thread with a bunch of different links in it that if clicked on could install malware, ransomware, or a multitude of crap on the persons computer. Some of them are just links to web sites they own where they are selling stuff. It's not just scams, a lot of spammers. LockDoc
