Re: Chevrolet or Pontiac?
I'm not much for pony cars so i can't vote there.
Chevelle in my mind has better body styling. It just looks like a monster getting ready to jump

Re: Chevrolet or Pontiac?
I have owned three Camaro's and one GTO, But that one GTO was a 66 and it still had more class than my Camaro's.

Re: Chevrolet or Pontiac?
The Camaro's are great and more common. I would rather a 67 GTO if I had a choice.

Re: Chevrolet or Pontiac?
While I like the Chevelle and Malibu's they aren't something I would ever purchase. El Caminos I prefer the 1959-65 models. Non of those "late model lol" 66 and up versions.

Re: Chevrolet or Pontiac?
Tough call alright..... Putting my money where my mouth is (or was), Chevy wins. Test drove a new '67 Firebird but bought a new '68 Camaro RS. Have owned a '69 El Camino SS and a '71 Camaro RS, both bought new. Also owned a '65 Malibu, loved the body style but a '66 would be my favorite Chevelle, and a '64 GTO has to top my Pontiac list. Maybe not in the same pony car / muscle car class but I owned two mid-year Corvettes, a '65 roadster and a '66 Coupe. My favorite Corvettes are '65-'67.

Re: Chevrolet or Pontiac?
I would not push any of them outa the yard...I never had the chance to own any of them due to life events and such, but it is what it is. I have my '69 C10 with its nicely built 396 now, so that will have to do.

Out here in San Jose a few years back I attended a car gathering. Jim Wangers was the guest speaker and he shared the history of Pontiac. His stories were absolute true gems. The audience was captivated. Pontiac all the way....There's no question while at Pontiac John Delorean and Jim Wangers launched the muscle car era. |

Us poor guys in the land of the Canuck had it rough. We could buy chevy's with chevy motors or pontiacs with pontiac motors. If we didn't like the looks of either we'd just buy a pontiac with a chevy motor. BTW Leonard, I know of a 427 in a pontiac 10 miles north of Leslieville! |

Re: Chevrolet or Pontiac?
Partial to the Pontiac. I had a 69 convertible Firebird some years back. Started off with a OHC 6 cylinder and an automatic transmission. Changed it over to a 350 with a 2 speed power glide (2 speed power slide as we called them back then)
A real fun car to drive. Like all the old ones I kick myself for letting it slip away. S |

Re: Chevrolet or Pontiac?
You know, I was just thinking. I have a red 70 Chevelle SS like the one in the second picture in the original post.
It hasn't been driven since 1980. I bought the car with a spun rod bearing. I drove it in the shed, and it has been sitting there waiting for me all this time.

Re: Chevrolet or Pontiac?
Partial to Pontiac and Olds myself. Why own one 69 when you can have two?
Real interesting going from 4-speed in the GTO to 2-speed auto in the Cutlass.
