That's crazy. As the saying goes, "Don't steal, the government hates competition"

I'm from Maryland and never heard of a county or city sales tax. Property tax, yes. I believe Delaware has no sales tax. I remember when people from Maryland would go to Pennsylvania to buy clothes or maybe it was just shoes because those were not taxed. I'm not far from Hanover, PA and Hanover Shoes were made there before China took over. Things have changed, though. Folks I now in PA gripe about paying a separate school tax. Maryland just ropes it all into one big bundle.

Re: Check out all the tax’s on this CPP invoice

That raises some interesting questions. Shipping and handling are something that the company decides how much to charge, but the sales taxes look on par for a state that doesn't have an income tax. But what if you live in a state that does have income tax and doesn't have a sales tax, or the sales tax is lower?

Re: Check out all the tax’s on this CPP invoice

I'm wondering what you ordered and if paying $23.37 over cost is worth the shipping. Just trying to simplify, certainly not justify. Do you live in the same county and city to be paying their taxes?... Again?

Wait. I said I was trying to simplify. Forget all that and let's make my post, "What? No cornhole tax??"

Re: Check out all the tax’s on this CPP invoice

Looks about right. Seems they did a complete break down . Here the state tax is around 5% county tax is up to the county my county is 3% next county is 3.25 % . No city tax where I live

May be California mandates it to be itemized.

If you order from out of state you pay your local sales tax . So if you have no sales tax there is non charged. This happened a few years ago some states to it to the Supreme Court and the ruling was that internet sales are taxable in your state. But that’s if your state was part of the lawsuit

These are the brackets I need to answer the ? About track width. CPP and I are both in Ca. If you add it all up it works out close to the 9 1/2 % sales tax in town
Go figure- cornhole is right - LOL

9.25%. Most cities in California the total sales tax is in the 7.5-10% range. Interesting they broke it down, I live here to and I’ve never seen that. I’m curious how a fuel receipt would look…

We have that here in Arkansas too. It's especially hard on small business not on computers.

Re: Check out all the tax’s on this CPP invoice

Our sales tax, state only/no other local sales tax, was 5% until then Governor O'Malley (short for Owe Me Malley) bumped it to 6% in a sudden 11th hour move... unbenownst to us little people until we made our first purchase first of the year. Never heard of local sales tax. I guess Maryland gets their money plenty enough other ways.

You probably right about Maryland Tim. My first wife was from their and all I remember is when she did her income taxes, she had to file with state, county and city. I am old and VERY easily confoozeed

Re: Check out all the tax’s on this CPP invoice

In our town in central MN they have a city sales tax that apply to only hotel stays.
If you needed a couple extra parts making the sale over $99 would Summit been a better deal even if you still had to pay the CA state sales tax?

Yeah, definitely state income tax and our county income tax is 50% of state. We only pay a town tax if we live within the town limit... which I don't. I get that, though. You pay to keep the town municipal stuff operating. My town now has it's own police force. Used to be we had a resident state trooper, that the town paid for. I liked that better. Now the town cops are there to grab revenue from people like me who don't pay the town tax. But I am out of their jurisdiction if I need the services of law enforcement. The resident trooper was a state trooper and if I had an emergency they were as obligated as any other trooper to respond.

Re: Check out all the tax’s on this CPP invoice

6.25% State Sales Tax in Texas. Then cities/counties do their part, and the max is 8.25%. Notable major purchases like cars, boats, etc are exempt from local taxes. Texas has no state income tax.

Probably will change inside of 10 years as the state keeps getting invaded by the Coasters.

You'd just get mad: California Gas Tax Breakdown

Gas Tax Tax Rate
Sales Tax (one of six states that charge a sales tax on gas) 2.25%
Underground tank storage fee paid by most gas stations (hidden tax) ¢2 cents/gallon
Primary and Second California excise taxes * ¢51.1 cents/gallon
Federal tax ¢18.4 cents/gallon
Diesel Tax 13%
Electric car owners will pay a $100 annual fee $100
