Talking New trend!!!

I'm not sure about the new trend here but it's bound to happen sooner are later. So here you go guys. You can say you saw it here first! I bet that is one scary ride at speed. Then again who knows it may ride like it's on air.

This is for all the air riding guys now you can be low and high!

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Some how, that doesn't look like it's driven much. I doubt it's safe either.

No doubt, look at all that chrome and painted frame. That thing is a trailer queen. MIGHT get driven 10mph in a parade.

I only recently heard of the "Carolina Squat". Can't recall the source, but it's said to be murder on suspension components -- lots of breakage. And how is the driver supposed to see over that elevated hood?

Diff'rent strokes I guess -- but I will say it does not appeal to me at all. I'm trying hard to not say what I actually think of it. Don't wanna offend any kids out there that like it....

Thumbs up Re: New trend!!!

Down here at the beach it's every other truck you see is like this. A lot of folks call it the invisible trailer fade. Some call it dog $#1+ squat! Main names all the same meaning!
Myself I just call it stupid.

Re: New trend!!!

Boog - that makes me laugh and is actually pretty accurate.

While I really don't care what some other mentally challenged person does with their money or their truck the idiots around here doing the "squat" have two issues that I REALLY wish the authorities would step up and ticket for.

#1 - they do not adjust their headlights and meeting one at night is murder.
#2 - they almost all have 4-6" of tire sticking out from under their fender which is supposed to be illegal. Get behind one in the rain and you won't be able to pass on the interstate for all the road spray. Personally, I wouldn't want to throw all the road debris up the side of my ride.

Definition of cool changes but I've never been one for fads. When I was a teenager convertible trucks and paint splatter paint jobs were "cool" but I didn't get it. Even at 16 my favorite truck in the area was a super clean silver over white 68 custom cab C10. Was cool in 1985 and would still be cool today. Just like jeans and a t-shirt, may not be the rage but never out of style.

Re: New trend!!!

In high school (circa 1980's), the first thing a kid did when given Ma and Pa's old car was to jack up the back by adding extended leaf spring hangers and scrounge up a rear set of oversized wheels and tires. I guess it's taboo to repeat history and what else can the kids do but jack up the front to be different. Next they will be just jacking up one side.

I still have a soft spot nostalgia for jacked up Nova's. Remember when this was cool (pic borrowed from the web)...

EDIT: forgot to mention air shocks to give the ride that "Rock Hard" feeling!

Growing up my next door neighbor had a 66 mustang he jacked up like this to stuff a set of N-50's under. I came home one day and he was taking it all back apart. We got talking and apparently the state police stopped him and gave him a ticket for the rear bumper being over height. Not sure if it is still MD law but back in the mid 80's truck bumper height was like 28" but unbeknownst to us, car bumper height was limited to 19" and he was way over that.

Exception to the rule!

In certain cars I like the look. This is my 1964 NOVA gasser with straight axle. 383 Stroker, turns 12 sec with a Muncie 4 speed.

Gassers are certainly an exception! Very traditional for that type of race car. As with a jacked up rear end and large tires in a drag car. My buddy had a jacked-up 6 cylinder that could hardly turn over the large tires to move let alone spin them...lol!

For sure! The difference being a gasser has a (mostly) stock height rear and a lifted front..... Carolina squat drops the rear waaaay down and lifts the front to ridiculous heights.

Re: New trend!!!

Meh, the dragg'n ass look is a fad, no different than the Gasser, Jack it to the sky and make that brick even worse Aero drag. Or the high jackers in the rear.
Seems many forget the fads their generation if not them ,themselves took part in that were just as stupid. none of it was safe, or legal. The dragg'n ass truck fad isn't my thing, but I see it for what it is, it is no different than the gasser look that made an aero brick even worse, the highjacker rear that killed handling and braking, the pro street cars that died as soon at the 10.5" racers made them look stupid.
Every generation has "their" thing they think is cool beans. I find it sad when older folks compain , forgetting the silly fads they followed. There was ricers (posers) long before the import crowd.
