Don't listen to Dale!! You'll end up in the corner.

Everything I've heard about the place is vague. The typical "I knew somebody that knew somebody that said the place is haunted". Small town gossip BS.

My wife works with a woman that grew up next to the the house and she said all that talk was BS. It's not haunted. It's just a kind of a creepy old house and as we all know. People will talk even if they don't know what they're talking about.

My biggest problem is the price. Property is an investment and this place is on the high end of the spectrum for where it is located. I've fallen in love with the wrong houses before and lost money. I've fallen in love with the wrong women before and lost LOTS of money I don't want to do that again.

But we have drooled looking at this place for years. So. I'm in for a shot at it. All they can do is say no.

The interior ... It's a nice place. 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Plenty of room for when the kids and grandkids come to visit.

Re: Would you buy a haunted house?

Wouldn't bother me a bit. I've lived in a couple of apartments that were historically haunted and never had a problem. One apt I would come out to the dining room in the morning and have things moved to the center of the table like the salt and pepper shakers. I have had similar dreams about my parents coming to visit to tell me they were ok. In my dads case the message was he didn't want me forgetting about him. If anyone in interested, there is a small series of fascinating books written by a local author, Michael Newton-----Destiny of Souls,--Lives Between Lives, and, Memories of the Afterlife.

Re: Would you buy a haunted house?

well if you want to buy it go for it.. ive had one that was allegedly haunted but i dont buy into it.. I've since sold it as the house needed alot of work and i wasnt going to put the money in the tenant i had for two years didn't like it much and i knew i wouldn't find another tenant so i sold it as long as there isnt a premium for it being haunted and you like it go for it

Re: Would you buy a haunted house?

we know the previous owner of our house, George, well, even though he died 5 years before we bought the place. we tore down the falling-down den addition on the back of the house and that quieted things down immensely.

My wife keeps tellin me Im due for a good "time out"!

FWIW, its pretty cool looking and has some character. I generally have no opinion on wall paper but it fits the house as does the early style woodwork around the doors.

The hearse would add the final touch!

How long has it been on the market? Heck, give them a number that you're good with and let the chips fall where they may.

It been on and off the market for years. As long as I've been here.

I'll play ball with them. Maybe I'll take my ball and go home... But maybe not.

Time will tell.

Haunted houses remind me of a joke that I wrote a few years back. Yes I did write it.

I rented a house. Got a great deal.

Asked my friends to help me move. I gave them the address.

They said "Dude..You didn't rent that house did you?

I said. Yeah I got a great deal.

Yeah..You got a good deal because it's haunted.

I told them that they were full of it. But they were right. I saw a ghost...A phantom.

I got out of the shower one morning and stood in front of my mirror. And there it was... Right behind me... Hissing.

I turned around and said. "Hey Phantom! Can't you see that I'm naked in front of a mirror. Do you really think that you're going to scare me?

The phantom looked at me. It paused. Then it nodded. "You may have a point. Sorry to bother you I'll just be leaving now".

The phantom went to walk out but turned and shook its head. Then it said "You know I may be dead. But I look better than you"

Re: Would you buy a haunted house?

If it feels right when you're there and the price is right then why not?

We lived in this house in the 60s, it's changed a bunch including it's become apartments. My mother said the place was haunted by a good ghost and bad, and I talked to them. Don't hold against me I was 4ish The place was divided into two houses, years later my mother visited the business in the one story, and the gal that worked there insisted she had to leave before it became dark. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luella_Garvey_House

My mother's last home was haunted, but only after she passed. Who knows what was switching on/off lights and fans, I figure perhaps I was throwing some things away she preferred I didn't

My neighbor's house was apparently haunted and since "cleaned". My son's friend who lives there has seen & heard wild stuff. His dad is a straight shooter type, didn't believe it until it was throwing BBs at him in the garage.

Re: Would you buy a haunted house?

I lived in an old house where a young girl had lived and she had been abducted walking near the home.
She was never found.
Some strange things happened but it didn't bother me too much.

I tell them no. And that no one ever died in it.

Re: Would you buy a haunted house?

My great grand parents were believers in haunted houses,, anyway my grandmother was first and then ol grandpa decided he was too. (this was around the year 1875)

Grandma kept hearing noises from the kitchen down stairs like some one spitting kindlin to build a fire for breakfast ,,dishes being set out on the table ..and she felt the bed move ( in them days beds had small wheels on them)

She woke up grandpa and made him go down and see who was in the kitchen .. It made him mad having to do that ,not believing grandma heard anything ,, then one day

He awoke to feel the bed move and the next week then moved ..

Next I will tell ya another story if you want about my grandfather I acually knew digging in the basemant and finding a young girls skelton remains ..this was around 1925 my grandmother washed the steps leading up stairs many times and a red stain kept coming back ..

They figured out that the girl must of been there on them steps and her blood was what was coming up from the wood steps

My dad told these stories to us kids and we were all ears ,, I have many more but will stop here unless some one wants to hear more .. I think haunted house stories were the thing back in them days ,, but now with all the movies about vampires and ghosts ,,we are used to it

These haunted story places was out in the country near Custer South Dakota ,,maybe up French Creek

There was another house that my dad shared with me that was haunted back when my dad was around 10 years old..again South Dakota close to Deadwood or Custer where he lived back then

This house stood empty for quite awhile as it was labeled haunted .. any one who ever attempted to buy it either walked away from it or was warned ahead of time and so they would stay over night in the house a night or so first before buying ,,it didnt sell

This was around the time of the first world war in 1917 and soldiers in them days did a lot of marching down roads as trucks to haul them were not so plenty ,, in fact my dad told me that when the soldiers came apon a bridge they were told to break step to keep from tearing down the bridge by so many making the same steps together movement ..this was done with horses also ,,they would get off and walk them across the bridges

Any way the soldiers were ask to stay in this old house and tell if they seen ghosts... They did stay and the ones in this one room with the fireplace in it did get up and go out side durring the night

They said they seen a man an women walk across the room and into the fireplace hand in hand .. and they got the heck out of there.. and then seen then coming out the chimney on the roof...

You know how it is don't ya Dale as this must apply here also ?

Re: Would you buy a haunted house?

Paul, I've been putting a lot of thought onto this and have come to a conclusion. I would not want to own a haunted house, but that's just me. I also would never sell a red Ford hot rod, buy a Fiat, own a hearse, or a Porsche. I say GO FOR IT!!

Cool story, yes it applies here. My cabin is haunted but the ghosts are peaceful. When I bought it, I would see her or feel her presence. I always say " hi" to her when I get there. My girlfriend didn't believe in ghosts when she first went up with me and laughed at me for saying hi to her. As she was putting stuff away in the kitchen, all of a sudden everything was falling off the counter tops to the floor. That night my girlfriend woke up to see her standing in the room watching us. She believes now and says "hi" to her. In the last few years a male ghost has moved in.

Just for the record I did not buy a Fiat. My wife did. But I did do that other stuff. What can I say? I was dropped on my head as a child.

My wife and her friend recently went to the supposedly haunted Padre Hotel in Bakersfield. Built in 1928. I didn't go because they were doing girl stuff. But they thought it would be fun to stay at the haunted hotel.

My wife said it was a nice place but both she and her friend had the creeps. They were told to avoid the 7th floor. They got in an elevator and pressed the button for the 4th floor. The elevator went to the 7th floor and the doors opened. They freaked out.

They were so rattled that when a guy passed them in the hallway they jumped and screamed. He was just a guy that walked fast.

The Padre also has a handprint of a small child that they can't get rid of. It keeps coming back.

And there are some rooms with no numbers on them.

She said the staff downplays all the stories. It's not like they advertise it.

If you're ever in Bakersfield and want to test your nerves. Give it a shot.

My wife wants to go back.

I figured or already knew that Fiat idea was your wife's. Just used it to create a better picture. What was it, get rid of the 'Sporty Abarth' to get a Vette?? Musta got tired of the black and wanted yellow next
