Re: Facebook Marketplace finds

I wish the kid that started the "Post Your CL finds" would chime in. He is 22 now and hasn't been here for two months. Lets get his input before we do anything..

Re: Facebook Marketplace finds

I could care less how we do it, but the reason I did this is like I said, so many people here don't do FB and it would seem to me it just clutters up the CL finds thread, and makes it frustrating for those that can look at those listings.

it always much simpler to find things later when they are organized in one place.. so it really depends on whether y'all want this forum to be a useful tool or just entertainment..

try looking up information on something as simple as a tow hook, takes 30 minutes to locate enough threads with separate little nuggets of information to get any where when it could be organized a lot better..

but it takes members participation to achieve organization, discipline to look for the major threads on the subject and add to it..

if it's not popular here I'll just shut up and mind my own.

yes, I see your point.. but if the facebook teaser is something I'm serious about, I'll get the info from someone, have done that already a couple of times..

point is that if I'm looking for something, I'd like to see as much of what's available out there regardless of how it's being listed..

I don't see more than a couple of daily additions to the 67-72 truck thread anyway, less in the 60-66, and very little in the subs and blazers..

so maybe it wouldn't be too much more traffic, but maybe it would.. hell Jocko runs that thread, he finds more gold than anyone!

hope it works out for the best for everyone, but all I know is I don't need anymore 71 longhorns

but I do need another beer..............

Re: Facebook Marketplace finds

I don't do Facebook, so when a good buy on their site comes up, it is frustrating . I can't get any information to contact the owner, so it is a complete waste of time to even look at a posting. I refuse to give my personal info to a site that will not let you control your account or info. I'd just as soon not see the postings, so my vote is to keep them separate.

FYI I see the Face book ads on the CL thread all the time. Same thing, can't respond. Just makes sense to have a seperate area for each.

I was just sitting here smiling to myself. I have had this same discussion time and time again with the guys in my coffee club. None of them do FB, and they give me hell because I do.

Re: Facebook Marketplace finds

I enjoy Facebook , was never on it until my wife passed away . I had an account but never posted on it and didnt know how it worked . When my wife passed away I called a friend in Michigan to have her put the word out about my wife as we have friends all over the country and Canada and she put it on Facebook . I was then able to connect with hundreds of friends we had made all over thru the Chevelle Clubs over the years . I also use MarketPlace to buy and sell trucks and parts all the time . FaceBook is a very useful Tool depending on what you want from it .

Re: Facebook Marketplace finds

I don’t care how many threads there are. I just wish that the the folks linking the ads would post a few pics and the price from the ad.
That way when the Craigslist ads expire we can see what it was and what they were asking.
And some of don’t have Facebook so they are useless without some pics and info.

One of the great things about the for sale section of this site and these threads is that it gives us a bit of an idea of what things are selling for.

Re: Facebook Marketplace finds

That truck looks very solid for the price - now down to $6,000. I assume there was a respray done at some time in the past. The body dings are eminently straightenable. Cut dashes irk me but I could forgive that sin. Too bad I don’t have spare cash sitting around....very tempting.

I hate to take advantage of tragedy but something tells me there will be good deals to be had in this hobby in the coming months as people need to raise cash.
