Solenoid Insurance

Need to replace my Carburetor Idle Stop Solenoid | EDB 8059. Thought it might be a good idea to put an inline fuse on that between compressor and the solenoid. Edelbrock tech guy concurred and recommended 30 amp. That sound about right ?

No. About 10 amp would be better.

>>between compressor and the solenoid........Carburetor Idle Stop Solenoid.<<
What is EDB 8059?

Not knowing what you have, aftermarket or OEM AC System, the compressor clutch circuit was probably not designed to handle an additional solenoid.

Power your "Carburetor Idle Stop Solenoid" with a relay powered from a dedicated 12V source (fused). Using the clutch circuit to trigger the relay would only require about 50 millamps.

https://www.edelbrock.com/idle-compe...tors-8059.html

I'm using an older version of an Old Air Hurricane https://www.oldairproducts.com/produ...r=47-1092-1969

I believe it gets it power from the fan circuit

Re: Solenoid Insurance

In that case, I wouldn't ask Edelbrock. I'd ask Old Air.
