Re: WTB early Muncie 4 speed FM-420
Wish you were closer, I've got one I won't be using but the distance involved would kill any thoughts of getting it to you. Good luck in your search.

Re: WTB early Muncie 4 speed FM-420
burnem, sorry to get your hopes up but what I have is a SM465 4 speed, rather than the SM420 trans. I've had it for some time after removing it from a 68 GMC that was totaled. I know for sure it was not the original 4 spd for that truck as I knew the owner and it was originally a GMC 305 V6 with a 3OTT. He had the 3OTT removed and the SM465 installed. Shortly there after that the truck was totaled.
Sorry to get your hopes up. Good luck in your search. Would think there is a SM420 somewhere closer to you.

Re: WTB early Muncie 4 speed FM-420
I just looked and have a 3837334. Its a parts trans because I found it in a barn. The charts say it is a SM420, 67-67, K16 build date.

Re: WTB early Muncie 4 speed FM-420
Not sure if it helps you at all but I have an adapter for the Rockwell t221 to sm465, as well as an adapter for the sm420- rockwell221. I was on a rockwell kick for a bit and that’s all I have left is just the trans-tcase adapters
