Working on installing a hidden hitch.....

My uncle likes to work his little GMC so I am installing a hidden hitch for him to tow his car trailer with. I am also going to install a crank-up spare tire for him (even though he has triple A) WES

Do you have details and pictures of a spare tire winch? The only thing worse than removing the spare tire from underneath is putting it back in!

Also interested in the crank up spare tire mod. I really like my hidden hitch, works great.

How much is the hitch? I would like one! Will it fit on a 72 2wd Blazer with a poly tank?

I thought about doing this same thing for my 68 GMC. I never did care for the bed mounted spare and was thinking of using the crank up mechanism of a junk 86 Toyota pickup truck that I had. Someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse and sold it.

Let us know what you wind up using.

Re: Working on installing a hidden hitch.....

Hidden Hitches are real cool and easy to install without a hoist. Even if you never use it its nice to know its there if you need it and a gnarly rusty hitch isn't hanging down under your nice chrome sport bumper. I put one on my truck about 10 years ago and never used it and now the truck is sold and I'll be putting one on the new truck.

Nice! I also like your differential drain plug; always wanted to do that but never had the guts LOL.

Re: Working on installing a hidden hitch.....

I used the winch off a GMT800 pickup on my car trailer.

The spare tire used to be on top of the tongue but as the car got lower and lower the front bumper wouldn't clear. Hanging it off the bottom solved that problem.

That's the same thing I was wondering. I don't see how you could have both.

Re: Working on installing a hidden hitch.....

The ECE one looks like it will since they both mount to the bottom of the frame unless you sandwich them with custom install brackets. CPP sells one that mounts on the side of the frame rails so that you can still run an underbed tank.

Re: Working on installing a hidden hitch.....

Looks like these just mount through the top of the frame rails? What does a hitch like this cost?
