Are you going to paint this one Pink also? Hey Greg, you know I know (just a little truck site humor).

Nice truck indeed. Finding them nice and unmolested is getting to be very hard

Re: Meet my New Truck

Greg, Thanks for the shout out. Glad we were able to get you into such a nice original truck! Sounds like the trip home sealed this one as a keeper. Now wasn't that better than shipping it ??? :-)

Shawn, Thanks for the local help. It is so much easier when there is a fellow enthusiast to help vs trying to do it on the fly or worse pull a service shop out of the phone book. I'm sure you made things easier and probably took a day off this trip for Greg.

The purist inside me cringes, but I must admit that a chromed front bumper (rear too...sigh ) and wheelcovers will give it the "look" it deserves!

Re: Meet my New Truck

Awesome Post! Very nice looking truck. Like another member I'm curious about the gas mileage, especially since the SPID reflects a 3.73 rear end. Congrats on the truck and glad you made it home safe.

Re: Meet my New Truck

Okay, I did the gas mileage calculations. Over 729 miles at an average speed of 70mph I averaged 11.76 mpg. I was fighting serious head and sidewinds most of the day and the highest mileage on one tank was 13.24 mpg over 199 miles and the lowest was 9.94mpg over 123 miles. I wonder if driving at 65/68 mpg with 3:08 gears instead of my 3:73's and hardly any or no wind would get another 2/3 mpg which percentage wise is significant.

I'd say yes. even just slowing to that speed with the 3.73s may do that. Look at the variation in tankfuls from a variation in conditions. i found when I drove my K3500 6.5TD/NV4500/4.10 truck at 65 mph I got 2 mpg better than driving at 70-75 mph

Re: Meet my New Truck

Pushing a brick down the interstate takes a lot of power. With my 700R I can squeeze out almost 17mpg at 60mph. It drops to 15 mpg at 75mph.
