72 C10, Auto to Manual?

Hello all my fellow GM fans. I have a qwik question to ask. How hard, and is it possible to convert my 72, LWB, 5.7, TH350 truck to a manual trans?, and is it do-able? Basically, other than the clutch pedal assembly, the manual trans, clutch, master cylinder with reservoir, and bell housing, what all components do I need to make my truck into a floor mounted stick? I would really like to have a 4 spd, or even a 5 spd standard trans. Ive been thru several TH350s, as they just cant hold up to my needs. I use the truck as a daily driver/homestead/farm truck. and an occasional road trip. I do haul a motorcycle some times and also pull a small/medium trailer (between 12'-16' so not to big or very heavy for a half ton truck. I'm just looking for info on someone that's already done this swap or a thread on it. I've searched for one but turn up with no results. Any info is appreciated. thanx in advance

Re: 72 C10, Auto to Manual?

I'd simply swap in a TH400.

Re: 72 C10, Auto to Manual?

TH350s have done everything I've needed them to do, including that one I gave you that lived in a Custom Camper/20 that hauled a slide-in all it's life. You just need a good TH350. The one I mentioned was working fine when I pulled it. As far as I know it had never needed work and I owned that truck for 18 years.

To swap to manual you need the clutch pedal and linkage, hi-hump & bellhousing if it's a truck 4spd, and connect the wires from in & out of the neutral safety switch. I'm running a car Muncie 4spd in my '67 Project and am using the automatic crossmember instead of the truck bellhousing mounts.

Doing it this way you can use all of the stock GM parts.
