What did you all pay for paint job in the 90’s?

Just asking because I have receipts from 1997 for a bunch of work on my truck. The shop did close to $10000 in work including a/c rehab and $840 for r&r motor another $850 for a Holley 850. The paint job cost $3500 to straighten repaint and buff body plus 860 to remove front sheet metal and paint firewall under hood inner fenders etc. the paint looks great but it was never put back on the road so I wonder if $3500 was a middle of the road type paint job in 1997 in Hesperia, CA. Shop rate was $45 per hour

Re: What did you all pay for paint job in the 90’s?

In 1993 I disassembled my old 67 and sandblasted the parts myself at a rental place that let customers use their equipment. I then took all of the pieces to the body shop where they replaced the rocker panels, did some minor rust repair on the kick panels and did some minor bodywork on various parts. They painted the inside of the cab and the back sides of all the body panels. I retrieved the parts from them, reassembled the truck, and took it back to the body shop. They then painted the exterior. I brought the truck back home and finished assembling it. They had quoted me $2500 for the paint job, but it crept its way up to $4200 including the body work.

Talking Re: What did you all pay for paint job in the 90’s?

I had mine done back in 2008. Welded all the trim holes up and minor body work to get the sides right. All my panels were good. Front bumper was modified. Gas tank hole filled on drivers side. Paint was cut & buffed. Paint still looks nice today! Having the garage to park in really does help a paint job to stay nice.
$3800.00 total

Sorry it wasn't the 90's.
That paint job sucked and cost me a little over $2500.00

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: What did you all pay for paint job in the 90’s?

I've mostly painted my vehicles myself. I would spend about 4 to 7 hundred on materials back in the late 80's and early 90's. Just depends on how fancy I got. Acrylic enamel in one non-metallic color is at the low end. Urethane with Z/28 stripes and clear coat is at the high end. Always use 3M sandpaper since it lasts longer and cuts better than the China crap. Always use quality primer and paint since you only want to do this once and you want it to last. Follow those rules and you'll be happy.

Re: What did you all pay for paint job in the 90’s?

I recall paying $2700 for mine in 1991. Taking it apart recently, and knowing a lot more about paint and body work, I’d say it was a quickie. Definitely the cheaper and lower quality side of the spectrum.
