Pitman arm for a 67 with manual steering?

Ordering up a bunch of steering and suspension parts for my '67, and notice that Moog don't actually list a Pitman arm for the '67 year.

Earliest they start it 69. Part # K6130

Will this work on the '67 (manual steering) or will I need to find a different manufacturer?

Don't know if this information is relative to your situation - but on my '67 Camaro the pitman arm is different (different shaft diameter) than the '68 and '69 Camaros

Russ too bad you are so far away. Can't confirm for you on fitting though. Almost everyone here pulls the manual boxes for power steering boxes. Would be a easy find and reasonable purchase.

Side note where in Australia? Spent some vacation time in Sydney, Melbourne, New Castle, and a place called Walla Walla..Does your truck have the "ROO Push Guard" like I seen on most trucks there? Sorta like what we used to have on trains back in the old days to push cows off the tracks with. Ha ha

Being a Right-hand drive truck, there is no factory power steering option for me. I found that LMC sell the correct Pitman arm, so I can add it to my next order. No idea who manufactures it though.

Slight update on this. I went ahead and purchased the Pitman Arm from LMC, and it arrived yesterday.

Comparing it to the original I removed, there are a few differences. Images speak 1000 words, so I'll let them do the talking.









Nothing earth shattering. The original is slightly beefier throughout, however it appears the important stuff - lengths and mount points - all line up.

The splined circle that mounts to the steering box shaft appears to be slightly bigger on the LMC version, and it is, but the difference would be less than 1/16th of an inch. I tried to mount it to the steering box, and it initially seats, just like the original - however there is no way you'd get it on without a tool. I don't imagine it being a problem. Maybe it's deliberately oversized to account for the paint? I dunno.


Also cleaned the original a little so I could read the part number. It reads 8 GMT 3944977 B. Of course, as is the way with my truck, this matches up with nothing I can find on the internet.




There are a few original MOOG K6097'S on eBay, so I might grab one of them and see what's what.

I looked for the number 3944977 in my 1938 to 1970 Chevy parts book and couldn't find anything. I finally came across this when looking at each pitman arm listing:

68-69 Series 10 thru 30 (exc. P/S, 4/WD) 3944982 (forged 3944977) See Note 2

Note 2 - 5 13/32" from centerline of stud to centerline of hole

It crosses to a Moog K6130, shows 69-72 C10-C30 with manual steering.
